ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. — Emus are capable of running at speeds up to 30 mph, but one bird decided to take a more leisurely stroll on a central Alabama highway on Tuesday.
Must be a thing with emus, getting loose. I saw one in rural eastern Washington wandering through a wheat field years ago. Pre-cellphone, so no pics. I called the county sheriff thinking they may have known who owned it. “Not our problem. Call state wildlife.”
