  1. I was raised on bluegrass music. Had the great pleasure of seeing Doc perform in the early '70s at the state bluegrass festival in Lavonia GA.

  2. I had a mtn. house in Watauga Co., NC from 1988-2021. Doc lived way out in Deep Gap, almost into Wilkes Co. He loved fried seafood and would go to Thompson's on old 421 unannounced. He'd eat and then play for around 15 minutes or so.
