I have a question here

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- FOX 17 News first brought you the story of Nashville serial offender Thomas Harrell in 2019 when he had racked up 98 arrests. Move ahead to 2022.

Harrell is now nearing 200 arrests after his latest incident on September 30, where he is accused of not paying for his $358 meal at The Palm, a high-end downtown restaurant. The manager, who pressed charges, told police that Harrell has done this several times at the establishment ordering a large expensive meal.

*****

If he had done this several times in the past, why in the hell do they continue to serve him or even allow him back on the property?

  1. More than likely it's because they don't want to be accused or racism. It's cheaper to give away some free meals than it is to defend against, or even lose a lawsuit.

  2. Is your question rhetorical?

  3. just guess what he will say if you don't serve him ???
and 50 to one, he always goes to a place owned or run by whites too. to pull this shit.
a black owed joint would beat his ass or tossed him the fuck out.

  4. Rope meet tree. There's something to be said for the good old days. And no, not because of his skin color. This would have been the solution for ANYONE back in the day.

  5. Homeless, substance abuse, mental health issues. He feels safe in jail. Gets fed, dries out, and has a warm place to sleep. A modern day Otis from Mayberry. It's getting cold here in northern MN, we will be seeing our Otis walk in the liquor store and intentionally walk out without paying so he can get arrested. Refuse to plead. Refuse to pay bail. Stretch the case until Spring. This really does happen

  7. Getting stiffed for a meal is a lot cheaper than the costs from the lawsuit this douchetard will file if he is banned from the establishment. Our legal system is broken.... irredeemably broken.

  8. Al Sharpton is his copilot.

  9. A place that serves a 358 dollar dinner probably requires a reservation too so I wonder.

  10. What ever happened to the concept of "We reserve the right to refuse service to...".
That used to be posted in just about every greasy spoon I ever ate in back when life was good.

  11. I just answered my own (and Ken's) question-

"Under federal anti-discrimination laws, businesses can refuse service to any person for any reason, unless the business is discriminating against a protected class. At the national level, protected classes include: Race or color. National origin or citizenship status." Etc, etc, etc.

  12. Yes, he would sue if refused service. Yes, any White attorney would take the case.

  13. $358 at any Palm will get you a 3-4 mixed drinks, salad, 2 sides, a 12 oz. ribeye and 1 decent bottle of cab.

  14. Considering his "history" it wouldn't be unreasonable to require payment upon placing the order. Then I'd serve him a special super deluxe meal.

  15. Charles Laughton did just that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7WivRXwKm8&t=433s

  16. The guy has been put into the system about 200 times, and they say he "may be a homeless person". They don't know?

If that were my restaurant, I'd have each of his previous dinner bills printed out and ready for him to pay. Any time he showed up at the door and wanted in, I'd show him the unpaid bills and say "Pay us for past service and we will serve you again. Until these bills are paid, you are not welcome here."
