Oil prices could soon return to $100 as OPEC+ considers ‘historic’ cut

An influential alliance of some of the world’s most powerful oil producers is reportedly considering their largest output cut since the start of the coronavirus pandemic this week, a historic move that energy analysts say could push oil prices back toward triple digits.

  1. Not really relevant. OPEC tries this a lot. The problem is all of their member nations are cheaters. As soon as the price goes up a little, they all pump as much as they can to try to reap the profits from market conditions.

  2. I have seen the price of gas climb back by about 75 cents, to over 5 bucks again, just in time for the midterm elections.
No doubt much of that is related to the OPEC nations lack of respect for the Biden administration, and the incoherent energy policies they have.
As much as I appreciate the need to help other nations, Biden and the Democrats along with some of the Republicans have got to get out of the Russia/Ukraine conflict. Just like Korea and Vietnam, it is a fight that we can only lose, and the longer we remain involved, the more danger we have of getting involved militarily.
If there was ever a need for a strong and steady hand on the ship of the nation, it is now. I don't have anyone in mind, but it is surely not a Democrat.
The Republicans are pretty thin as far as strong men of character as well. It might be a relative background player, like Scalise, who is quietly getting things done.
One thing is certain and that is until we start to allow more domestic oil production, we will never be totally safe as a nation.

  3. Excellent time for OPEC to pull this; the effects would hit about the time of the Mid-Terms.

  4. Not to worry. Ray Ban Joe will pump lots more from the National Reserve to keep the pump prices down. Well at least till after the midterms anyway.

  7. I bought gas this afternoon for $4.49 a gallon. Four hours earlier, it was $3.99 a gallon at the same station.

"No worries. I'll just fill up on my way home."

    "Well, faaaaaaaaa..."
