What was that coop made of, concrete?

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - Strange calls for service are not uncommon for fire departments, but one Ohio agency may have experienced one of the weirdest ones to date.

The Shaker Heights Fire Department in Ohio got an unusual call for service on Sept. 22 when first responders arrived at a home to find a man locked in a chicken coop, WJW-TV in Ohio reported last week.

  1. A chicken coop in Shaker Heights? That's one of the wealthiest communities in the country, akin to Scarsdale, NY or Beverly Hills, CA. I'm really surprised that they don't have an ordinance against keeping chickens. Or maybe they DO...

  2. The coop is a Amish carpenter built stylish one, with a keyed lock on the door. A loved project of wife and 3yo son, home to eight chickens.
Guy didn't want to get into trouble breaking out.
His son had locked him in and couldn't be coaxed into unlocking the door. Mom was gone.
I'd be embarrassed with his solution of dialing 911.
    Unmanly.
