Our Federal Government is the only one on Earth that exists solely to serve the interests of the American people. It has no other purpose. The Federal Government is answerable to and subordinate to the people. The American people are supreme sovereign over the Government. Once the people’s servants fail to recognize and acknowledge these aforesaid facts and then forsake the interests of the people, the Government has descended into Tyranny.
Full disclosure. I did not read the article. I won't. It's fear mongering. One thing I've learned in my very short firearms life (I've only been into guns now for about 20 years) is that we have more access, and less restrictions now than when I started. I've also learned with the number of guns currently in society, the number of politicians that are involved in shoot sports, and the absolute "fear" of guns the other side has, we gun owners will never have to worry about. So many of these article are click bait and folks wanting you to give money to protect your rights. I don't need to give someone money to protect my rights. I do so at the voting booth and by my own actions. And unless something dramatically changes in current environment, guns are here to stay and we're getting darn close to universal reciprocity. That's my opinion and I'm holding to it.
ReplyDeleteGood response rayvet. However, I'm wondering if New York, New Jersey and other long time very restrictive states are beyond reversing their draconian bans. I've owned firearms since the mid-1950s when in New Jersey anyone over 18 could walk into a Sears and buy a long gun with no restriction. The entire tenure of American society has slowly shifted toward the liberal end of the spectrum and I don't see it reversing.
DeleteIn some states, we've had some recent gains like constitutional carry only by citizens fighting a very uphill battle for decades. Other than that, when I became an adult, you could still walk into K-mart and buy a long gun without a background check. When my older brother became an adult, you could buy any gun without a background check. When my father became an adult, you could have a semiautomatic rifle or pistol mailed to your door with zero paperwork. When my grandfather became an adult, you could walk into a hardware store and buy a machine gun with zero government interference. The long term trend is one of increasing restrictions tempered only by vigilant citizens fighting the good fight.
DeleteYou could argue that we ALREADY HAVE lost the right to bear arms, in that this "right" is no longer a "right" but in many places a privilege granted by and regulated by the state. That is, after all, what a "conceal carry" permit is. And what's with the insanity of regulations governing how it's legal, and thus how it's illegal, to transport a firearm in your car?
ReplyDeleteFrom how I hear it, in some places it's illegal to transport a firearm across a state line in your car, no matter how you do it, because the regulations in the two states directly contradict eachother, making it impossible to do without breaking the law in one state or the other.
My point is that we've already got a long row to hoe when it comes to restoring "shall not be infringed" to it's rightful place as the highest law of the land. That's certainly a work worth working on, but we'll never be in the situation that England or Australia already are. We've got FAR too many people who EVEN TODAY ignore the "must register" and "cannot manufacture" etc. laws that we ALREADY HAVE.
So worry about this sort of shit has already been preempted by the most ancient "voting" of all: nullification. (See "The tenth amendment center" for more philosophy on this subject.)
Must suck to live where you do. Better make sure you get to the polls. You would sh!t if you knew what a d where I can carry without a permit anymore even though I have one
DeleteWe are winning the fight, despite the fear mongering. We have nearly half of the nation as Constitutional Carry states. We are freer to go armed than we have been since the institution of organized government. We just have to keep winning the battles.
DeleteDamn straight, Bro. DAMN STRAIGHT !!!
ReplyDeletesounds like the old NRA ads where they say they fighting for our rights. funny thing though,
ReplyDeletethey have sided with the law makers every damn time. some fight.
other than a few programs they help run, they really don't do much good for our rights.
there are other groups that do a much better job of standing up to all of the nonsense laws
they always coming up with.
We don't have a federal government run by Americans. That's our problem. The federal government is run by "dual citizenship" foreigners whose allegiance is to the empire that never died. That's our problem. Did I say that's our problem?
ReplyDeleteLOL! Funny how the author thinks we are still a "free constitutional republic".
ReplyDeleteHe must have just woke up from a long coma.
