Your Tuesday Morning Florida Report

A little girl is safe and sound after employees at a Daytona Beach rental car lot found her alone in one of their cars.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the child, who is just shy of 2 years old, was hot and scared but otherwise okay.

  1. I have 3 kids. I've never almost forgotten 1 in a car! Maybe it's just mine. They're either making noise or I'm looking to see why they're not!!

    1. My child is now a grown man, but when he was that small, I cannot think of any situation where I would have left him alone in a car.

  2. Grandpa returned the car. Grandpas are old and forgetful. Lesson to be learned: Don't let Grandpa watch the kids.

  3. The advice from some TV "experts' is to leave something valuable like your computer or Gucci purse in the back seat because you'll remember it and see your kid when you retrieve. Back in the late 1940's when I was about 6 my mother would have never had that forget-the-kid thing happen since I was placed next to her on the front bench seat of our '48 Chevy and I stood with my hands on the dashboard.

    1. I knew a woman that used to take her left shoe off and throw it in the back with the kid or dog. She'd remember as soon as her feet hit the ground.

    2. Obviously an automatic transmission cause clutching naked can be a blistering event.

    3. That's not a bad solution when you get as old as I am. My short-term memory is bad enough that I could imagine myself in the same situation as the grandpa in this story.

    4. Me being one of four kids my Mom would often take her shoe off too, but it wasn't to remind her she had a kid in the back seat. It's a miracle she let any of us including her only daughter live past 8 years old.
