Emboldened Biden, Dems push ban on so-called assault weapons

WASHINGTON — When President Joe Biden speaks about the "scourge" of gun violence, his go-to answer is to zero in on so-called assault weapons.

America has heard it hundreds of times, including this week after shootings in Colorado and Virginia: The president wants to sign into law a ban on high-powered guns that have the capacity to kill many people very quickly.

Nothing new about Biden's plans here, but what I found interesting is the fact that the article repeatedly refers to them as "so-called assault weapons" or " 'assault weapons' " and then goes on to say, "When Biden and other lawmakers talk about "assault weapons," they are using an inexact term to describe a group of high-powered guns or semi-automatic long rifles, like an AR-15, that can fire 30 rounds fast without reloading". And this is coming not only from the MSM but also an MSM news station in California, no less.
Sounds to me like even the suckass media is opening their eyes to the bullshit.

  1. I wonder, if their eyes are opening, or if they are just reframing the narrative and language. Since they have been pounded about the term "assault weapon" (they can't define it), are they now pivoting to "high powered semiautomatic" to vilify on a broader level without the worn out "assault weapons" term? The cynic in me says the latter or something similar.

  2. No, they are broadening the scope of the guns they want to ban by eliminating the term "assault weapons" as it is commonly used to describe only AR & AK patterns. By doing this they will include anything (pistol, rifle, shotgun) that has a detachable box magazine, as any of these can accept a larger than original capacity. Commies gotta commie.

    1. Yeah, my thoughts too. They are switching the narrative from "assault weapons" to "semi-automatic weapons" to broaden the scope of what they want to ban. Under those terms, my Browning BAR Safari model deer rifle is the same as somebody else's tricked out AR-15. They're both semi-automatic.

  3. Don't be surprised if he try's to sneak a semi-auto ban into the pending funding bill that is currently before both houses.

These fuckers STILL haven't learned even with all of the SJC rulings in the last decade that overturn most gun control laws because "shall not be infringed" doesn't mean anything to a Demonrat.

Meanwhile, all of the Demorat run shitholes, most with THE MOST restrictive gun laws in the country, descend into further chaos and murder by firearm because criminals follow the law just like the rest of us.

  4. There's this sticky problem for them called the Second Amendment that protects individuals "keeping and bearing" firearms, including AR-15s. When Clinton's ban went into effect, the Supreme Court had not yet decided District of Columbia v Heller and McDonald v Chicago. In Heller, the Supreme Court held in a 5-4 decision that the Second Amendment expressed an individual rather than a collective right. The McDonald case was necessary to determine whether the Second Amendment was applicable to the states in addition to the federal government. The term is "incorporation" in legalese. Once Heller was decided, the incorporation question should have been a 9-0 decision since the reasons for incorporation paralleled those of the other Amendments in the Bill of Rights. But the dishonest dissenters made it a 5-4, voting the same way that they did in Heller.

No matter what anybody passes in the way of an "assault" weapon ban should get struck down by the courts, assuming that we have an honest court system (which we don't). This delays things for a few years as the cases percolate through the court system, and let the anti-gun politicians show the world, "look what we passed."

Hey Brandon, how about advocating for a federal law that if you use a firearm in a violent crime (has to be very carefully defined), you get 20 years added on to the sentence automatically, and if anybody is hurt, 30 years, and if anyone dies, a swift death penalty?

    1. In the mean time you are arrested and jailed like the J6 patriots and you go broke with legal fees when you eventually get a chance to defend yourself,.. The fib says "the process is the punishment ".

    2. Hell they won't even enforce the additional 5 yrs for using a firearm in the commission of a crime nor many other laws already on the books, unless it is against the right.

  7. So, definitions. Legaleese.

    Actions, not words.

If someone kicks in your front door, pulls a .380 out of his pocket and shoots you, that too is an assault weapon. Could be a frying pan too. Depends on intentions.

StG44 was the original assault rifle. Sturmgewehr.

  8. It only takes one, folks. One shot, one kill. If I need more than that I'm not living up to the snipers creed. Learn to fucking shoot, already...

  9. Drunk commenting here. When they come for you, aahh you have a plan right? And you have practiced said plan? Take five with you,. (((They))) only get away with what we let them. In my 32 years of service I have never signed out an assault weapon from the arms room. SO Do not let (((them))) to control the verbiage. Words have meanings folks. Never say assault weapon, never say high capacity Magizine, never say high power. WTF is high power anyway, maybe a M109?

    1. I think that the term "High Power" started with the post-WWII import of the FN 1935 Browning 9 mm to the US. Military surplus and European market pistols were often marked or referred to as "HP" (Herres Pistol, or Officers Pistol), to associate the identity and reputation of the pistol with FN / Browning.
Now, "High Power" just means "scary" to the propagandized sheep.

  10. Okay, then if he's serious he should disarm his Secret Service detail before any gun grabbing takes place. Of course that'll NEVER happen!
