In the private sector, if an employee fails to meet his job requirements, he is likely to be reprimanded or fired. Imagine that an HVAC tech gets called to install 30 units throughout the month. Instead of installing 30, he only installs 22. The HVAC tech missed his goal by about 25 percent. His boss will probably start looking for a new tech.
The U.S. Army just missed its recruiting goal by 25 percent. As a result, the total force of the Army will be undermanned by 15,000 soldiers.

I'm proud that I gave 3 years of my life to the service of my Nation back in the late '70s and early '80s, but there's no way in hell I would enlist in today's woke army.

ReplyDeleteSame here. I was 76-79.
Not only 'woke', and also knowing then what I know now, I would probably not enlist. I had no idea our army was a mercenary tool of corporate politics back, and that almost every war we fought was for profit, greed and political manipulation.

DeleteFor me it was 77 - 78 & 79, luckily I never got sent to die.
ReplyDeletethe Army must adapt its installations, acquisition programs and training to be able to operate in a changing environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our future readiness depends on it.
ReplyDeleteSeems to me that if Readiness is the goal, then focus on anything that doesn't increase readiness is counterproductive. Maybe training in ideological crap, wokeism and diversity and making changes to accommodate Feeelings is a bad idea.
I was in the AF, 73 to 76. A young woman I've known for a few years was telling me she was planning on joining the Navy. We had a pretty long chat and didn't hear from her for about a year. She finally called and said she changed her mind, that I talked her out of it. Wheww!
I disagree, fire the commander in chief. He is the one responsible for this mess.
ReplyDeleteNot only woke, but vax mandates.
ReplyDeleteSpent a decade in the Infantry for whatever that is worth. My take is that this is no longer our army. It belongs to the enemy. It can and will do the enemy's bidding, therefore the US Military is the enemy. We should mock it everywhere and cheer for its destruction, either at the hands of foreigners or through administrative incompetence. Our people need to be discouraged from enlisting and those already in uniform need to be encouraged to get out immediately. Heritage American patriots need to discard the worship of these institutions and all of the trappings that go along with it. The means the "Screaming Eagle" and "All American" patches, the USMC eagle/globe/anchor, the Blue Angles, the Green Beret, all of it must go in the trash. The enemy captured it all anyway and rubs Lady Rangers and tranny Navy SEALS in our faces as an iconoclastic insult. The sooner this New Global Order military goes away the better. If this Secretary of the Army is an incompetent fool, then good. He is the best man for the job.

DeleteThose aren’t just emblems. They’re ICONS to us, and the men who’s honorable footsteps we followed.
They were not surrendered by us.
They were betrayed, the same as we were betrayed.
We must reclaim them. Restore them.
In the memory of the men who bequeathed them to us!

You are welcome to try, but I cannot see a path to reclaim them. The era of the splendid little wars is over. The future appears to hold big wars against peer enemies who are likely to slaughter our fat, dumb, and over-priced rainbow warriors. The Navy has not been in a real fight with anyone since Okinawa in 1945. They have been out of harms way with the exception of the pilots most of the time since then. A great naval tradition has been frittered away in 75 years. They couldn't even save an amphibious Assault ship from being burned into a worthless hulk while tied up to a dock. There was a fatal collision off of Japan because a female Officer of the Deck and a female CIC officer were not on speaking terms with each other over "girl problems" and no warning was given of an imminent collision with a container ship. The Male Commanding Officer paid the real price for this while the 2 ladies were let off easy cause, well you know, Woke Rules. This is what you will be going into battle with. There will be no heroic episodes of saving the stricken ships like the Franklin and the Forrestal I'm sure, and that's just the Navy.
DeleteThe military as a whole has been much too compliant with abetting our marxist politicians with there anti-American schemes. Bioweapons development for depopulation, advocating against the 2nd Amendment, development and oversight of the electronic population control measures directed at the American people, taking sides in the corrupt political charades in Washington against a sitting President, Looking for imaginary extremists in the ranks, telling white servicemen they are innately evil, etc. I could go on with this for a while. They embraced all of it with enthusiasm knowing it was a betrayal of the American tradition and of the people. It may have been a multi-generational leadership failure, but it is known and accepted in the ranks top to bottom with few exceptions.
At this point I cannot see why anyone would want "custody" of these badges and symbols back. They gave a Bronze Star to some chick who passed out on the floor of her supply truck while the rest of her unit was wiped out for crissake. It won't be long before nobody will want to be seen in those uniforms anyway, and the ones you do see will be manning a roadblock in your town and pointing rifles at you. I wonder if you will still feel the same about the iconic militaria they are wearing when that happens.
rubs Lady Rangers and tranny Navy SEALS in our faces
ReplyDeleteEWWW!
It is a really tough thing. Because I will always support anyone who volunteers to join the military, no matter their reasons. Because to me, they are giving 8 years of their lives to be at the pointed end of the spear, in case our nation needs to defend itself against an aggressor.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, of course, is the absolutely disgusting military and civilian leadership that is at the moment in charge. I know that staff level officers and above are mostly political positions, and require those who man them to know how to play the game, composed of kissing the right ass, and always saying the right things, no matter what the truth might be. If they don't play the game correctly, they don't get promoted, it is as simple as that.
No matter how good of an officer Colin Powell might have been, or Norman Schwarzkopf might have been as military leaders, first and foremost, they were experts at reading the political winds, and knowing how to work the officers above them, in order to keep them fat dumb, and happy. Thus they were able to do the job that they wanted to do in the way that they felt was the right way to both get it done, and done with the lowest cost to both their soldiers and to other things of consequence like civilians and actual financial costs.
Looking at the last major wars that we were in, as a nation, those in Afghanistan and Iraq, we can see a couple of things. First they were meant to be in retaliation for the bombing on 9/11. Taking a look at that event, 17 out of 19 active bombers were from Saudi Arabia. So first we go into Afghanistan, and then we hit Iraq, with what is now called by the ever popular name of Shock and Awe. All you need to do is take a look at youtube videos, and you will be shocked and awed, all right. The amount of ordinance we dropped in Iraq dwarfed that which we dropped in all of WWII by an enormous amount.
Now one might cynically wonder just why we bombed those nations, which are composed mostly of mountains and sand. Except for the fact that Afghanistan has one of the worlds largest recoverable supplies of Lithium. And of course, Iraq has enough sand to fill all of the elementary schools sandboxes. Oh, I mean, Iraq has Oil, enough to make a difference in the world's supply. And of course, Oil doesn't just make gasoline and heating oil, but it also is used in diesel, and anything that involves plastics, make-up, electronics, just about anything that is produced uses petroleum. So it makes sense that people with money to invest love to invest it in large oil ventures that promise large returns on their money. And the movies where you see the wildcatters striking oil, with large plumes of oil streaming out of the well, to a hundred feet into the air, getting everyone soaked black with the Texas Tea, Liquid Gold, etc, just isn't going to happen. I have a friend who worked the oil fields when we first got out of high school. He made a lot of money, but told me that if something like that happened, more than likely there would be the biggest fire that you could imagine. He said that the geologists knew when they were getting close to striking oil, and would stop drilling and cap it before the well had a chance to blow.
I will never think anything other than that Dick Cheney wanted to invade Iraq, in order to enrich his old company, Halliburton, which got a no bid contract to supply the military with tons of things from food to fuel. They made close to 40 billion dollars during their little excursion. I have no problem with civilians helping our military in this sort of jobs. It has been done since the beginning of the nation. But I do have a problem with what appears to be a war that started in order to allow for Halliburton to enrich themselves on the backs of American soldiers, some of whom died.
The only Vice President who is worse than Cheney is our current one, Kamal Harris, who has done nothing, but drag us down. And Cheney even shot a friend of his in the face.
Since the 70's the military became more political and checking boxes and safety became the route to promotion so warfighters were shown to the door and REMF's were put into positions of power which in turn would only allow others of their ilk into positions that guide the direction of the various services. Just read the opening of TALENT Management 2030.

The word experience is never mentioned in that opening statement, only studies, books, reports, and literature. I doubt they are referring to any of the well-recognized works that have proven time and time again how to prepare for and fight a war.
DeleteIf Biden gets his way and we end up in Ukraine, there's a good chance that the Russians will kill off the most of them. Maybe that's his plan anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe already have boots on the ground in Ukraine. Supposedly they are only there to "check" on our weapons that we have given to the Ukrainians, to insure that they remain usable and in good condition. I do believe that FJB also has a bridge or two that he is attempting to sell to the highest bidder as well. Worthless POS. We just had an election, were the people voted to allowed his party to continue on their merry way for another 2 years, unchecked. We won't have a very Merry Christmas at my house.
DeleteMy youngest just got out after 10 and two deployments. Used the benefits to gt a college degree and now has a great job, saved up "hazardous" duty pay from the last twelve month trup to the sandbox and used it for a down paymenbt on a house, a new GMC Terrain and still had $10K in the bank...but wasn't willing to put up with being stalled out at E7 and the woke crap. Pretty proud of her, she did a lot more with her ten than I did with my 6 back in the late 70's/early 80's.
ReplyDeleteThis is all part of their plans for a fundamentally changed military, see the link below on Force Design 2030. I am not a military man only a civilian patriot and casual reader of history, military, etc., but this sounds crazy and scary.

83 to 89 Active duty AF. I left active duty and went Guard with no brake in service. I did 21 years total time. I stayed an extra year chasing E-8, I didn't make it. I did Operation Righteous Cause in Panama, Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi/Kuwait, and OIF 1 . I was a commo guy. I ran the 39 telephone switch for the Mama calls back to the world or ran the data center (OIF 1). I supported the Hero's who were in the shit.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the commies who control Biden, young troops are going to lose their lives because of their Chain of Command and the Covid shot.
ReplyDeleteI was in the US Army for 4 years and 4 seconds, 1983-87. I had all I could take of the mostly poor leadership. I couldn't stand the woke stuff today.
ReplyDeleteWe just lost a 20 year long war against 6th grade dropouts with AK-47 rifles, who didn't even have an Air Force or Navy!!!!!
I'm out of $Trillion, and 7000+guys....
Could that be part of the reason no one wants to enlist?
I think MG Smedley Butler (two time Medal of Honor awardee) was right in his book: "War is a Racket". You can find it online.
