A "refund" either means you paid too much throughout the year or you may be a net taker from the system with tax credits. "A 1099-K form, which is used by third-party networks, can now be triggered by a single transaction that exceeds $600. The threshold to trigger the form used to be $20,000 in aggregate transactions." I have ZERO problems with the IRS collecting all taxes legally due. How they go about doing that is separate issue. "The IRS said taxpayers who take the standard deduction instead of itemizing their taxes will no longer be able to deduct their charitable contributions." I was unaware that you could do that. Looking into that law, I can just imagine how many fraudulent claims were made in 2021.
Yup, all those extra taxes getting sent to the Ukraine. Gotta finance that shit somehow.
As for paying too much over the year, I adjust every single year trying to get my paycheck withdrawals to evenly match what I owe and it never does. Not even close. I'd rather pay a little extra and get a refund than have to owe hundreds or even thousands come April, but damn does it have to be so hard to predict?
"Your refund is smaller because your taxes have gone up." It's just something Democrats do, along with throwing money at their donors, starting wars and gun control.
Because your government knows better how to 'invest' your money than you do, dontcha know.

Submit sloppy but accurate handwritten returns. Make them work for it.
