Kathleen Casillo, 54, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday nearly two years after she was accused of driving into pedestrians during the protest at the Manhattan intersection of 39th Street and Third Avenue on December 11, 2020.
Casillo could face seven years in prison after turning down the deal which involved six hours of community service and a one-year license suspension.
Charges should be dismissed. The “summer of love” Antifags and others that were using the blm protests and making them mostly peaceful should be charged instead. We know that isn’t going to happen in NYFC.

I support her choice, but have to question the wisdom of it. Just because of the stakes involved for her personally. There is mostly the problem of venue, of course. This is a case that ultimately could be appealed far up the food chain. Unless the prosecution does win, but in a back room hidden deal, agrees to a VERY mild sentence, to keep from having it go any further. The state of NY has a lot to lose in this, which is likely why they are so desperate to keep it from going to trial.
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't follow the link, migraine headache slowing me down a bit.
Jury nullification.....

Never mentioned of allowed by most modern judges and definitely NOT going to ever happen in NY, well maybe for the leftists.
DeleteI would guess the protesters were illegally blocking traffic, probably w/o a permit and created this event themselves.
ReplyDeleteShe did the correct thing.
ReplyDelete6 hours community service and one year suspended license?
ReplyDeleteThat's the offer of a DA who's scared shitless of this going to court, but also too much of a pencil-dick to just drop the charges. Her lawyer should be all over that like white on rice.
Resistance, however small, however possibly painful, is still preferable to servitude.
ReplyDeleteBetter to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
and in Australia, they changed the rules on a large number of crimes, now, if the jury cannot decide after 3 hours, they are offered "directions" where they can agree to a MAJORITY VERDICT to convict, the Office of Public Persecution got sick of hung juries.
Deletewelcome to the WEF fourth Reich, sorry the 4th induztreeal revoloooshion.. search engine "Schwabstika" and what the colours represent. operation paperclip, when you lay down with dogs and wonder why you have fleas.
I'ma riot if she be convicted.
DeleteAs “Brandon” would say, “C’mon, man!” The trial would be in Manhattan Supreme Court (yeah, that’s what it’s called there). Takes 12 to convict. Based upon the likely nature of the left wing dipshits who live in Manhattan, she’d undoubtedly be exonerated. Moreover, if she’s black, and one or more jurors are black, no way a conviction happens. Jury trial is therefore a smart choice. OTOH, perhaps everyone will get lucky, and some homeless guy will throw her worthless ass onto subway tracks just as the A Train passes.
ReplyDeleteHer picture looks pretty white to me. Name sounds Hispanic. From whatittle was in the article, I would vote to acquit. The protestors started to attack her, she panicked, and tried to flee.
DeleteNew York should buy her a bulldozer.
ReplyDeleteI could self-identify as a NY resident in order to be on the jury. I shouldn't have to show any identification proving my claim, right? Right?
ReplyDeleteHow come no one's asking the obvious question, i.e. why, under NYFS law weren't the charges dropped? Answer: because she's white and she attacked the left's darlings who can do no wrong because they're not white.
ReplyDeleteYah, yah I know she's probably Hispanic in some way because of her last name. However, look at the pic in the article. She's as white as white bread or maybe a "white Hispanic" like George Zimmerman.
...and all of you censors at Googleyes, I didn't invent the term "white Hispanic". Your fellow left wing press did during the Zimmerman affair. Chew on that for a bit.

Yes. A lady with balls to do the right thing.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time these thugs will GTF out of the street. I chalk this up to "fucked around and found out". If more people followed this lady's example this shit wouldn't be happening! Can't say I wouldn't do exactly the same thing if I was attacked with family in the car.
ReplyDeleteDitto. My guilt however would be in evidence by the maniacal laughter coming from the car when I turn around for another pass! Bwahahaa!
