As if they didn't have enough bullshit laws already

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The new year will usher in hundreds of new California laws. From protecting abortion and gender-affirming health care to legalizing jaywalking, state lawmakers and the governor approved a swath of new rules in the state that take effect in January.

We take a look at those, explain the laws that go into effect later this year, and provide you an update on laws that were supposed to go into effect but may be blocked or delayed.

    2. Starker here,
They have in the past kept the DNA of the victims in a shared database. And had arrested & charged a rape victim for theft based on her DNA only. Higher court ruled, that this cannot be done. Obviously, who with a less than good morals would report a rape if they used the victims DNA. It should fall under the 5th, but I don't remember the details.

  3. It's been said that one can determine just how screwed up a company is by the number of meetings they have daily. I suppose the same could be said of a state, or country, based on the number of laws on the books.

    1. My d-i-l is a Public Defender in Alameda County, CA, and thus a county employee, thus a union member. Unionized lawyers are scarier than sharks with frikkin' laser beams.

    1. Doubtful I ever will, but if I absolutely have to, it'll be over the Sierras at Sonora Pass if it's open. If not, Donner.

    2. There are better ways to sneak in than Sonora. And Donner's filled with cameras.

    3. Yeah, but I know Sonora Pass and the surrounding area better than I know my bedroom.
It's a moot point, I don't ever see myself returning.
