That appears to be an authentic European wild boar. Long legs, tall in profile but thin when viewed head on (hence name razorback), in I think that they were dealt with by villagers as hostile wild animals, much like we viewed bears here in America. They were man killers who consume us no differently then the large African - Asiam cats that preyed on people.
