  1. I was there. Seen Willy, Hank, Emmlou Harris, hell I can't remember all of them. Was right before I shipped out for Okinawa

    1. Me, too. Remember when the first act, Riders in the Sky, didn't show so they skipped them? Later, after Waylon was done and Willie was late, they put them on and they didn't make it more than a few songs before getting booed off the stage. I almost felt sorry for them.

  2. Saw Waylon at Blossom Music Center in 84?. Around the time my mom died, so the time frame is a little unclear, much like my mind at the time. Opening band was Niel Young. No comment on Mr. Young other than I liked his music even though I knew him to be a bleeding heart commie even then. Loved Waylon and definitely one of the best concerts I ever saw. Me and I guy I grew up with were tripping balls and the stage was set up in the bottom of a grassy bowl that looked like a spaceship rising up from the earth. Sitting on a blanket on the bank, stoned to the bone, it was pretty much epic for me. I have to say, I've had one hell of a ride. It's all going to shit as we watch, but I feel sorry for our kids and grandkids. They will never know what we took for granted. Eod1sg Ret

    1. I never did get the opportunity to see Waylon and I really regret it.
I like Neil Young too. Always have. I try to lay my politics aside when it comes to music, I just wish the musicians would too.

    4. entertainers that feel it is their duty in life to inundate everyone with their politics is bad enough...what i hate is politicians that feel the need to be entertaining.

  5. Waylon had a career in Country music before the "Cowboy" craze. Back then he would wear a suit and tie when appearing in concert. Here's my favorite song from that era of Waylon's career: "The Days of Sand and Shovels" Just listen to the timbre of that voice!!

    1. I was a huge Waylon fan growing up. I did get to see him when I was about 23. He played a show at a high school football stadium in Haleyville, Alabama. He had a wonderful voice and was the "real deal". One of my favorite Albums is "Are You Ready for the Country".

    2. I think the first time I ever even heard of Ol' Waylon was on the Wanted! The Outlaws album with him, Willie, Tomball Glaser and Jessie Colter. So, 1976 or 77?
