Abolish the ATF?

Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced legislation Wednesday that would abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after they enacted a rule that would make pistol stabilizing braces illegal for anyone without a certain license.

The legislation, titled the “Abolish the ATF Act,” would totally eliminate the ATF immediately after the bill is enacted. Gaetz introduced the bill after the ATF announced they would make gun owners face the possibility of being charged with a felony if they do not register their firearms with the stabilizing braces.

Gaetz said that the House GOP has the ATF in their “crosshairs.”

Unfortunately, this bill will go nowhere with our current government.

  1. Who knows. this might be the trigger to get the deep state (FBI, ATF, CIA and NSA) to show their true colors.

    1. Not sure where you've been, but these letter agencies have been FLAUNTING their true colors for years now. They don't care who knows what any more and operate with impunity.

  2. No need to "abolish" the ATF, the House can just reduce their budge allocation to some pittance like $1,000 or such, and let it wither on the vine. Cut a kudzu vine at the base and it dies. The ATF is a more noxious problem than kudzu ever was.

  3. This is where the RINOs pass sll sorts of bills KNOWING it's a fking minstrel show.

Maybe, just maybe they will use the power of investigation & subpoena to expose the 3 letter agencies corruption (not holding my breath since DOJ who brings charges, won't unless it's a conservative)

Trump no evidence but all the investigations
joe* tons of evidence but zero investigations (oh yeah, SP appointed for docs is a CHITCONGO RINO who was weissman's buddy)

It's been official for at least the last 12 yrs - America is a banana republic run by libs

It's been a good run but elections are predetermined. We're fucked.

    1. Exposing their corruption means nothing. MSM (your local CIA/FBI interface) won't give air time to any story impugning their parent agencies, and even if they did, it would require DOJ to actually take them to trial, which obviously isn't happening.

  5. The House can simply defund BATFE. I'd like to see those cowboys strung up, but that's just me.

    1. Yawn. Under Trump, the Republicans had both houses and the presidency for 2 years and didn't pass one damn bill to reduce the ATF or reduce the feds infringement of the 2nd.

Yes, they could zero out the budge for these things, but it will never happen.

  6. More GOP showboating. If the White House, the Senate and the House were solidly in GOP hands, you'd never hear a word of anything like this.

    1. Just like the bill to abolish the IRS. They could have done this during trump's first 2 years if they were serious, but it's all show.

    2. I'll never forget or forgive hearing a debate by GOPe Senators in 2003, following a midterm election under Bush in which the President's party had, IIRC, unusually, *gained* seats in Congress & the Senate. During a war, during an exploding budget, exploding bombs, exploding border crossings, etc., they were debating... a flag-burning amendment.
      Speaking of showboating.

  7. There is a budget crisis coming up, if the Republicans had any balls. Sadly they are pussys, and will not use the debt ceiling vote to force the Democrats to cave on a number of issues that they have been screwing the American people on.
The nation won't shutdown, as the budget was passed to fund the government until the end of the fiscal year, Sept. 30th. But with the debt ceiling raised, the government won't be able to pay all of the bills that are due, on time, without some fancy accounting shifting, like not paying into certain retirement accounts for government employees until the debt ceiling has been resolved.
The last time we faced such a crisis the nation's credit rating took a hit, way back in like 2011 or 2012. That was the only time we have ever had our credit rating lowered, and it caused us to pay more in interest to borrow money. Some would say that is a good thing, but we always have run a deficit. It is no different than a homeowner borrowing to buy a home. The only problem is that the government has borrowed so much that we will never pay it back, and the house is not worth a tiny fraction of the value of what we owe. Being able to print your own money by passing a 1.7 trillion dollar spending package, only makes the money worth even less, which is what inflation really is. So while getting that 1400$ check during covid or however much you got was nice, the fact is that by getting that check or checks, we actually went backwards, due to inflation. But Democrats are too stupid to see that, and keep voting the idiot Communists back into power, taking even more of our freedom away from us.
At least a prostitute will acknowledges that what she does is to take money for herself, at least for a short time. The Democrats don't realize that taking money for their freedom is forever, and they are just as much prostitutes, selling themselves for money.

  8. A simple plan. One which newly second in line of imperial succession can accomplish. Regardless of who might be on the throne.

Pass the bill abolishing The IRS. Pass the bill abolishing ATF, if they like.

Adjourn until, at least the former (as well as the latter, if passed) is/are enacted.

Without The House increasing the debt ceiling, the empire goes tits up. Before The 4th of July.

    (If they're serious... of course.)

    1. It's not about the $200; it's about having a firearm the government knows about.
