Baltimore's plan for "squeegee kids" fails almost immediately
As we’ve covered here extensively in the past, the City of Baltimore has been plagued for years by an army of so-called “squeegee kids” (many of whom are not “kids” at all) who extort money from commuters at intersections in the city’s downtown area. Those who refuse to pay the extortionists are frequently subjected to vandalism, violence, or worse. The new Mayor of Baltimore, Brandon Scott, promised on the campaign trail that he would come up with a plan to end the practice while finding a way to “help the squeegee workers.” The plan, when it was finally unveiled, was widely panned as being an ineffective sop in response to public anger. He was going to establish “no squeegee zones” and have the police help the perpetrators find other productive work elsewhere.

Should work as well as the No Gun zones in that hellhole.
ReplyDeleteShooting the bastards has always worked in the past....
ReplyDeleteHow hard is it to implement a plan of "If you do this you go to jail"..........
ReplyDeleteWell shit, Matt, that would mean (re)establishing a respect for law and order, and that's just crazy talk.

Yea Matt, crazy talk.
DeleteFlogging.
ReplyDeleteFeral baboons only adhere to the law of the jungle and could care less about Cracker's laws, but the progressive politicians keep tossing that dry spaghetti up against the wall hoping it'll stick.
ReplyDeleteI know! I know!

Institute a license for carrying a squeegee in public.
Hey, it worked for guns...

Baltimore as a city, failed years ago and the jackals, both elected and the criminal element are feasting on the remains.
ReplyDeleteRudy solved it in NYC. He told Bratton to arrest the perps, then fined them heavily.
ReplyDeleteThis mayor should ask Rudy Giuliani for some pointers on how to deal with this. NYC was comparatively nice and clean for the years he was mayor.
ReplyDeleteNy NYC squeegee crowd was dealt with by Giuliani. There was no squeegee men during three terms of the Bloomberg administration. Under DeBlasio, they returned, and ditto under Adams.
ReplyDeleteThey really negatively affect the quality of life in the City. Driving into NYC to go to a good restaurant and then a concert, only to have your windshield smeared with a greasy, filthy rag, when driving home, erases the good feeling. From now on, it’s Long Island venues where the cops enforce the law and the blacks know that breaking the law will get them arrested and indicted.
Once you get into Nassau & especially Suffolk, "no problemo". Used to fly up from SC and dated an Upper East Side woman. We would rent in Ammangassett in July. Seeing Leon Russell at Stephen Talkhouse was beyond belief. Not to mention drinking with Cyril Fitsimmons out on The Stretch.
DeleteConsidering how many today are too scared to get off the couch in mom's basement and do something other than video games and complain about the free WiFi....... I'll sit on the fence for this one.
