Kearns believes Covid is to blame for recruitment issues.
*****
Covid? Really? He doesn't think the military knuckling under to the woke agenda has anything to do with it?
I'm proud of my service, but there's no way in hell I'd join today's military.
You are putting your life in jeopardy. You need to be able to trust everybody around you and superior to you. And they need to trust you.
ReplyDeleteThat means no Benghazis, no Kabuls, no USS Fitzgeralds, no USS Bonehomme Richard.
You must know of other fuck-ups.
And I am just a civilian, from across the Pond, who has been privileged to work with military in a few countries and would trust my life with and I hope they would trust me, given my limited skills.
you have got that right. even talked a few of the local kids about changing their mind on it.
ReplyDeleteI mean they used to do stupid shit like polishing copper pipes under the sink, but this bullshit ? walking around in high heels ?
and the morons in charge should be put against the wall and shot.
the military is not a social club. it has one job. that is to destroy things and people.
now, they seem to be used as bait. or worse. and for the navy, thank god my dad is gone.
he would want to jack slap some of those assholes.
WuFlu? Bullshit. I agree WC, the "wokeness" and rampant faggotry is repulsive in every way, and embarrassing to a normal man and soldier.
ReplyDeleteAnother factor is that it is becoming public knowledge that the US Military is not what we thought it was. When I joined in 1976, I signed up for two reasons: 1) I felt a patriotic duty. My father fought in the Korean War and my GF was also Army, although I'm not sure what he did when - he died when I was about 2 and we never discussed it, and 2) I wanted an education.
Had I known back then that the US military is a mercenary force serving a corrupt government since before I was born (not one legit war since WW2 and I'm not convinced of that one), and not defenders of our country as I had believed, I would have never signed up. Our armed forces have done nothing 'lately' but put violent political pressure on our politicians' enemies (foreign and domestic) and made money for them and their military suppliers. Watch them get sent to Ukraine to protect our money laundering, human trafficking, military industrial complex and further our other political goals, like vilifying Russia.
Shit's broke...
Ed
my dad served in WW2 and Korea. he wanted me to go north instead of going in the army back then. just wait, these stupid fucks will get a war started and get millions killed to make a profit. funny thing, you will never see THEIR kids in the military.
Deletewhy else did they put a unit of the 101st so close to that shithole.
Images of that Furry colonel in his dog mask will kill recruiting for years.
ReplyDeleteThey want the worst of the worst of the worst, but those already have been voted into democrat office.
ReplyDeleteAs if traditional boot camp and accompanying indoctrination weren't enough to put up with...
ReplyDeleteCC
I agree 100% with all of the above, but don't forget about the mandated covid vaxxx.
ReplyDeleteNo man would join a service led by Faggots. Chesty Puller would be turning over in his grave.
ReplyDeletePatton caught shit for slapping a Private; Chesty would be shooting officers.
DeleteThe fact I have two grandsons in the draft-age zone doesn't make me sleep any easier.
I no longer advise the young'uns to join any of the services, none. Now I advise get into a good trade or stay home on the farm and take over the family farm when momma and Poppo are too old to work it. Any kind of trade or skill that one can barter with, or even get paid in gold or silver.
ReplyDeleteAnything to stop feeding the monster.
I second this advice and practice it often.
DeleteClaw the taxes back, starve the beast, manufacture goods at home, and build a business. I'm more or less the grounds keeper on the family farm and keep several acres mowed and trimmed while building my long-term business in the back. The business is sidelined for now though since I'll be using the GI bill this year and a degree should speed things along quite well.

"I'm proud of my service, but there's no way in hell I'd join today's military."
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Ken. Even the Navy of today bears no resemblance to the Navy I served in back in the 60's. Sad state of affairs for all services. It was all going downhill before Obozo. He stuck a fork in them. Biden is just sweeping out the ashes.

Amen to your comment Brother. I would never do 20 years now. Fuck'em
ReplyDeleteIf by "covid", the recruiter meant "mandatory mRNA jab", then he's right. The word is out, young guys know that shit is heart poison. And I just read the SECDEF letter cancelling the mandate (effective 1/10/23). Four paragraphs promoting the jab, last paragraph cancelling the mandate. Clown world.
ReplyDelete-Mike G.
Sometimes kids surprise you in the unlikeliest of ways. Back in October I was shopping with son #1 and he was wearing my old unit sweatshirt (Army). A guy comes up to him and asks him how long he served and then went on to explain that he is a recruiter.
ReplyDeleteMy son explains that the sweatshirt isn't his and that he has never served. The recruiter then begins his pitch and before I can intervene, my son holds up his hand and says, "Why would I want to join?" the recruiter starts with "Your country needs people like you." to which my son replies, "You mean the same country that bad mouths people like me and my family every minute of every day? The same country that blames me and people like me and my family for every problem in existence? The same country that is run by people who call me and my family evil and think up new ways to screw us out of our money and everything else and make life as miserable as possible for us? The same government that openly says that the world would be better off without people like me and my family and that this is no longer our country, you mean that country? Why would I want to put my life on the line for a country like that?"
Not only was I floored, but the recruiter just sat there sputtering, completely at a loss for a response. Finally he just said, "You have a good day." and walked away. I asked my son where he came up with that and he said, "I've been waiting to say that to someone like him for the longest time. I would have loved to have laid into my teachers with that, but I would have either gotten suspended, or had a letter of reprimand put into my permanent file and then I would have been really screwed!"
The above is one of the big reasons why I believe recruitment is down, the Afghan debacle is another one. We were down south for Thanksgiving and everyone we ran into has had it. I heard several calls of "These people hate us, we cannot co-exist with them, let's just get this over with." I kept my mouth shut, but made plenty mental notes of who was saying this and what types of people they were. It ran the gamut. There was not just the stereotypes we've all heard about.
That is the best thing I’ll read in awhile. Thank you.

It's my personal opinion that American exceptionalism and the ideal of America is worth fighting for but the United States is not. We let in too many foreigners that have no respect for our lands or the host people and can't claw over each other fast enough in the pursuit of power. I recommend that men don't need the government's permission to become warrior class and those that intrinsically want to serve can better serve their people by graduating with a STEM, medical, or legal degree and donate their time and services to their communities. A person that restores and improves the lives of others through donating their time and professional services does far more good for America than a dozen bombs in Afghanistan ever could.
ReplyDeleteWhy are recruitment numbers down? Woke agenda, Clot shot, and dozens of other dubious injections that aren't needed and likely cause permanent bodily damage. Garbage pay for working in conditions that would be illegal on the civilian market. Rampant under appreciation, low job satisfaction, hazing, sexual abuse, having to spend personal pay to make ends for their unit, zero-tolerance policies. Often people that enlisted do not re-enlist because of the terrible pay and working conditions; having their bodies destroyed and their person stripped of all human dignity.
The federal government strips people of elementary stuff like a basic night's sleep, freedom of movement, use of their private property, being able to eat at the chow hall they pay for, not being crammed dick to ass, etc, then offers these very things back as a treat for being a good little dog. Is there any wonder why people don't want to enlist anymore?
The US empire is in its death throws and now filling the ranks with the lowest of the low, just like the Roman empire.
Four years an 0311, left my abusive relationship in 2014

It’s really sad to see these comments and to agree with all of them. I credit my service in the 1980’s Coast Guard for setting me on a solid path to adulthood but would advise anyone considering enlistment in the armed forces today to RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION.
DeleteThe list of reasons you provided pretty well sums it up.
Yeah; I started as an 0311 in the USMC and ended up after 42 years a warrant in the Army. Wouldn't go near it today, nor would I recommend it to a young man. And keep the girls out: that's how old I am. You can imagine what I think of the fxxxxts.
Delete3 sons, all draft age, myself a Sandbox vet- I told them all to go to Canada or Mexico, if necessary.
ReplyDeleteMy Unit CO was F..ING ORDERED to attend a faggot flag raising ceremony at the front gate of my base. He was pissed and so was I.
ReplyDeleteHey Kenny;
ReplyDeleteYes, I am proud of my service, I was there in Germany when the Cold War ended, and I went to the Persian Gulf. That being said, I absolutely will not go in the service now, between the woke crap, the vaxx crap and the incompetence of the leadership...no way I would trust my life or my sons life to those assclowns. When you sign the dotted line, there is the possible expectation of that you may give a blank check including death to Uncle Sam with the understanding that "he" don't squander it. But the people in charge have different priorities now.
Marine Corps. Is drooling over my 18 year old son and ringing the phone off the hook. I told him what’s up and he agrees. Wife won’t let ME talk to them. My dad was in Korea and I in Afghanistan. Fuck those bitches. I know the truth.
ReplyDeletethe retirement pensions are also gone. A 20 yr commitment will no longer give a lifetime pension because they've moved to a 401k plan. What lower enlisted member has the ability to put in enough spare pay toward a retirement system let alone understand the market and benefits of developing a plan that will reward them after 20 years? Totally assed up.
ReplyDeleteThat's even before the old "Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act" rears its ugly head.
DeleteI used to tell a kid that had no idea what to do with his life to pick a service and job and, after getting it in writing, sign up for a hitch. That stopped with slick Willie as POTUS. I tell them to stay far away from the military and go take a few courses as a community college to get an idea what they want to do. The military is toxic now, and not worth the time or the life of anyone's kid.
ReplyDeleteI’m on a nearby Air Force base pretty regularly. It’s a training center where they get boots straight from basic for various tech schools. There’s a fuckin ‘furry’ on the base, and they allow this kid to walk around base dressed up as a purple wolf or fox or something that has a pink Mohawk. Also not uncommon to see two male students holding hands walking around. Shits weird.
ReplyDeleteI have a family member that’s a recruiter for one of the branches, and about the only thing keeping more of these types out of the services is the fact that taking certain medications that such people usually take bars you from service. I’m sure the recruiting crisis will get bad enough to where they’ll start allowing it.
I saw a change in the recruits at the kickoff of OIF just before I retired. With the leftard leadership I fear that today's military is a lost cause.
ReplyDeleteSon spent eight years, including three deployments, in the Army. Flatly tells people not to enlist in this Army because of all the bullshit mentioned above.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth got me in trouble regularly when I was in (‘68-80). I probably wouldnt last 6 months now.
ReplyDeleteI'm retired USMC/USA. I would not recommend the service these days, not since Jimmy Carter was CinC. What's worth defense these days?

ReplyDeleteWe may have crossed paths, I was in from 82-89. Cannot disagree that it was good for me. But in recent years, cannot recommend it to young folks. The handwriting was on the wall when I got out, didn't realize how bad it was until I talked to a guy that did 30 years. After talking to him, and remembering some of the early attempts at wokeness that were present when i got out, i no longer regret getting out when I did.
