  1. did anyone really expect them to do anything to help people ? I would have thought after WACO, everyone knew never to trust anything they say or do.
and how is it they can just changed laws without it going thru congress ?

  3. I am a gunsmith. I can either confirm, or deny my advice to anybody style of firearm on what it is to do. But my advice is in the broadest terms we start by restoring the firearm to its original configuration. Taking the parts did no longer conform and locking them away. If the ATF chooses to start knocking on doors, asking for these parts, they are going to have to provide a warrant and that means that they know about the purchases that we’ve all made. that information is not supposed to pee first and therefore they’re going to have to start explaining it and I don’t know that it will turn out well for them

    1. It will start with your ex wife/girlfriend dropping a dime. Or you get busted for some other crime and the ATF is notified about your SBR that was found during the house search and is now contraband. Unless you are just stupid or unlucky this will be an add-on charge for other offenses.

    2. Oh yeah. If you don't have illegal drugs in your home, they will provide some to help build THEIR case along with the old standby, child pornography, etc/.

    3. Or they somehow came into possession of the customer list of the company that made the parts that converted your pistol into an SBR. You know, some public minded hacker just happened to steal the list and anonymously gave it to the ATF in the spirit of public cooperation.

  4. I remain confused by all this but it seems to me that a pistol without a brace is a non issue. It seems further that these braces are frequently removable. Last, it seems a removed brace could easily be considered a piece of scrap metal.

    1. Nope, under the "rule" the removed brace must be destroyed. Otherwise you have "constructive possession". The legal concept that owning two legal objects that can be combined to make an illegal object means you have the illegal object. Doesn't just apply to firearms. Have coffee filters, drain cleaner, and sinus pills, you must be cooking meth. Own common plumbing pipe, pipe ends and reload your own ammo? You must be making pipe bombs in your spare time.

  5. However, the primary manufacturer of the braces was informed by the ATF that their website, customer records and sales orders were hacked and hijacked …and made available to the public….nudge nudge wink wink…

Wasn’t it so sweet of the ATF to tell the manufacturer….

  6. 1. Buy an upper with a 16" barrel from psa or somewhere like that.
    2. Swap it for your shorty.
    3. Stash the shorty for more, or less, sane times.
Anecdotal evidence suggests losing such items in bodies of water is common.
