It's a good thing overall crime is down in NYC, huh?

NEW YORK - Bodega owners in the Bronx say shoplifting and theft have gotten so bad that they are being forced to literally chain up merchandise to stop those who enter their stores to steal.

  1. Oh no! You mean the Bodegas where half the inventory was bought from thieves who boosted it from CVS and Duane Reed are having a problem with their stolen shit being stolen before it can be sold?
I buy shit sometimes from a little bodega near my company's repair docks in Red Hook. Great spot if you want to buy one cigarette or a plastic cup of ice to go with your Henny n' grape drank at 10am on a Tuesday.

    1. The other week in a well stocked pawn shop, I asked how they ensure not receiving stolen property. The eyes of all employees grew like saucers.
I said, I'm not looking to cause trouble, its just that I have had tools stolen recently.

None gave an answer. None would even squeak out some BS excuse.

  2. Maybe chain guns are in order. If enough of them got together, the guvnah would take notice. Call it the Bodega Owners Chain Gun Defense Assoc. They could hire a lobbyist and PR firm, since that is how representative government works these days.

    1. It is how most European countries can validly say their crime stats are lower than the US. Decriminalize everything from assault to actual using handgrenades against citizens and, magically, your crime stats are lower.

    2. That and it's only a recorded crime if someone is convicted...

  4. Lock the doors and go back to the old way. They tell you what they want, and you shave it through the tiny hole in the bullet proof window AFTER THEY PAY.

  5. There was a BBQ joint in St. Paul, Mn. Small front door into a small broom closet like room, that had a little counter with a small rectangular slot in the wall. That slot was fed be another slot further out of sight and reach off 90 degrees. The whole area and building was re-enforced concrete. Money went into a pan on a metal rod from the side slot to the front slot. Then BBQ came back same way. You never could see anyone and the transaction was by hollering.
