The incident occurred Tuesday, Jan. 3, on Holt Road near Brookview Forest Drive. According to an arrest affidavit, the victim told officers that Andy Yeung, 18, pulled out a handgun and aimed it in her direction while he was traveling behind her.

That's the one thing I don't miss about living in an urban area - I haven't seen even a hint of road rage since moving here. Matter of fact, people around here are so polite that traffic at a 4-way will back up as all 4 drivers try to wave each other on.
Orientals. You can blind them with dental floss yet they still get a license to drive. Horrible.
ReplyDeleteEskimo is actually a term meaning 'without proper eyelids' JFYI for now go worth and racist your heart out my son
DeleteOne of the first things I taught my son about driving was, "Take your turn." I think I even read that in the manual.
ReplyDeleteI taught my boys that the first rule of the road is, "Anticipate stupidity". Elder son actually used that as the name of his garage band for a time.

"...people around here are so polite that traffic at a 4-way will back up as all 4 drivers try to wave each other on"
ReplyDeleteOne of my major pet peeves is people who either don't understand the right of way laws so every intersection becomes some sort of play it by ear scenario, or for some reason believe that they're being nice, or neighborly when, having the right of way, they instead yield to someone who does NOT have the right of way while waving incoherently or flashing their lights.
It just drives me up the fucking wall when I am stopped, properly and lawfully yielding to someone who has the right of way but instead of just proceeding, they also stop and attempt to yield to me. Wave, wave, flash, flash. Now we're both stopped, not to mention everyone that may be behind either of us, and we're all getting zero miles per gallon and wasting time we'll never get back.
I just have to wonder what the thought process is: "Oh, look, there's another motorist stopped yielding to me like they're supposed to. Gee, I've got an idea, I'll stop and yield to them! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. It'll be my good deed for the day!"
It's really pretty simple. If you have the right of way, FUCKING GO! If you don't, DON'T! It's not rocket science. Don't tell me to go, I don't have the right of way. If I stick my toe into the intersection and something bad happens, guess who's fault it is. I get the citation, my insurance is on the hook for everything, and my rates go up. If someone gets injured or killed it's on me.
Learn the laws and follow them for fucks sake.
Jesus Christ, you're having road rage right now and you're not even driving. I'd hate to be around you when you are.
DeleteOr are you driving right now? That's my pet peeve, people who even look at a fucking cell phone when they're behind the wheel.
I fully agree with you. I live in an area full of 4 ways and people act like they don't know who arrived at an intersection and in what order...they think waving you on out of turn is polite! They are dangerous assholes and I cuss them every day. The traffic engineers think a single accident at an intersection after someone runs a stop sign is justification for another fvcking 4 way.
DeleteLet me ask you this: Do you go when they wave you on? Yes? Then shut the hell up and go. Problem solved.
DeleteOr do you just sit there waiting your turn and back traffic up even further?
If I don't have the ROW then no, I do not go.
DeleteMatthew, my wife does the same thing. She is a genuinely nice person who just doesnt grasp the importance of orderly flow. I on the other hand calculate the order of precedence as I roll up and take my proper turn. Who has the better of it? Well, she isn’t the one with a acid reflux.
DeletePeople not knowing who has the right of way under the guise of "being polite".
ReplyDeleteCharlie Chan had to drive a car since his richshaw licence was suspended.
ReplyDeletePeople in the country are nicer we have to be everybody is packin' heat. But as for the 4-way stop a lot just remember the rules ..because we use to have lights but they took them out here and you have to alert some folk that it is actually your turn , tun out of turn and cause a accident then it's your fault...so learn the 4-way stop rules ..PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteI don't see the problem.
ReplyDeleteHow is brake-checking any different than me walking up to you, taking a swing and missing by a few inches because you backed off just in the nick of time? Don't threaten to harm or violate the rights of others, or guns might be drawn.
Agreed, don't start no shit won't be no shit.
DeleteFour-way stop signs are quite possibly the stupidest innovation of modern times, even edging out the dreaded round-about, but here in my town they do you one better. Four-way stops with two lanes of traffic in each direction. That is just geometrical fuster-cluck, as you now have the potential for EIGHT vehicles all stopped dead, their drivers flashing what appear to be gang signs at the others until someone summons the gumption to move. In no other state have I ever seen a single stop sign apply to more than one lane of traffic.
ReplyDeleteAnon- Interesting intersection you describe. Don't believe I've ever seen one.
DeleteCare to share the location? State, City, cross-street intersection?
QHM
Not as bad as four way, but there is a 3-way Tee similar to that at the intersection of 1604 Frontage and Lookout Road (aptly named) near where my kids live in Live Oak, Texas. Very busy intersection, two lanes in each direction, and accidents occur there all the time. They've been complaining about it for years trying to get a traffic light there, but it seems that no one is sure which town "owns" that intersection - Live Oak? Selma? Universal City? There are traffic lights everywhere else in that area, but not at "killer corner".
DeleteMaybe its a Texas thing, but there are many examples of roads where a single stop sign on the right side of the road applies to the two lanes of traffic proceeding in that direction. If I am in the left lane, I sometimes miss them.
In the state I live in it's illegal for anyone other than an LEO to motion another vehicle to proceed. I'd be surprised if it's not a law in many other states also.
ReplyDeleteIf the need arises, I hedge my bets by nodding at someone else, not motioning by hand. An example is when it's a tie base between me and another vehicle when I have no one behind me and the other guy has more than one car behind them. Then I'll nod at the other guy to go so as to alleviate congestion. Nodding gives me an out if anything goes wrong and someone wants to make a case of me violating state law by motioning someone else to proceed. That's not what I did. I nodded.
In ending I'd like to say that it seems like many here are somewhat tense about driving and other drivers. I'd advise that it's best just to relax and do your best to realize most other people on the road just aren't that bright or are completely self-centered or are just piss-poor drivers to begin with and just make the best of it. Don't let their shortcomings ruin your day. And always thank the Lord when you reach your destination safely. That conclusion is never guaranteed when you start your trip.
This sermon is worth roughly what you paid for it. Over and out.
