“Refunds are going to be drastically reduced,” Paula Harper, office manager for Jackson Hewitt, said.
That’s because many of the benefits provided during the pandemic have reached their conclusion. For example, Harper explained that this year, the child tax credit will return to pre-pandemic numbers.
Wait! You mean there are some people that get a tax refund?
ReplyDeleteThe IRS is not a welfare agency. You should not receive a credit larger than the amount of taxes paid in. You dont even have to be a citizen to get a child tax credit. Costs billions.
ReplyDeleteThose were not 'refunds'. Those were freebees, paid for by your grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteSo a professional tax preparer is recommending that you retain the services of a professional tax preparer.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten a tax refund of over $5 in more than 20 years (Nor have I had to pay more than $15 in the last 10 years.) I'm not counting the BS stimulus from the last couple of years because i've just shredded those checks as they came in. If you're receiving a refund, all it means is that you overpaid and gave the government an interest-free loan...which is beyond stupid.
ReplyDeleteHell, you coulda just signed the checks and sent them to me.
DeleteI ain't too proud to take back some tablescraps from the buffet I paid for over the years.
I call that the unearned income tax credit.
ReplyDeleteThose weren't 'refunds'. They were handouts....paid for by people with real jobs, paying real taxes.
