According to a probable cause affidavit, officers responded to 2111 Otterbein Ave. on Sunday for a welfare check after the victim’s granddaughter reported she hadn’t seen or heard from 80-year-old Kathleen Ruhlander. The granddaughter told officers that the victim’s son, 53 year-old Robert Ruhlander, would not allow her to see her grandmother, the affidavit shows.
Kenny, I am taking care of my almost 80 yo mom. This kind of shit just makes me downright sick! Who in the hell treats their family like this?!

Sadly, Tom elder abuse is rampant in the US.....
DeleteYeah, I recently went through similar with my father. I didn't think it exceptional, taking care of your parents at the end of their lives is kind of a given, but, according to the home helpers we hired, OMG we were fucking saints. The stories they would tell.. turn your heart to stone.
DeleteI had power of attorneys for 8 elderly relatives and the stuff I went through with some of the relatives, providers and care facilities was down right disgusting. I followed the wishes of the people I had responsibilities for and their own kids sometimes cared more for the estate and the money then their parents. It's very sad, but saying that I guess the older relatives that I possessed the power of attorney knew what they were doing when they chose me. I loved them. I honored them.
