Court Settlement Lowers Tennessee Concealed Carry Age to 18
Those who are 18 to 20 can now openly carry firearms in Tennessee after a settlement was reached between the Firearms Policy Coalition and the state.
The settlement came as the result of a suit following Tennessee’s law on open carry restricting those who are 18 to 21 from being part of the allowance.
And after re-reading the article to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass, I see that I was. I don't know if it's concealed or open carry. The caption says one thing, the article says another. My apologies.
My understanding is that 18-20 year olds are now treated like 21-and-up. But after watching Tennessee fumble-fuck with CCW these last 25 years, I wouldn't bet on the cops and deppities getting the straight skinny for a while.
What a shame that gun laws can be written simply and be kept to a minimum so that both the citizen and the LEO can understand them without ambiguity.
California is about to legislate three new gun laws in response to the three latest mass shootings here. Three new laws that the Dems consider to be "a blueprint for the nation" as Gavin prepares to run for president. Three new laws that have nothing to do with criminals and everything to do with the law abiding. Three new laws to be added to Chuck Michel's 'Gun Laws' of California, about to be released in its tenth edition. Like anybody, law enforcement included, can keep up with any of this horse crap, because that's really all it is.
What grinds my gears is there are still many people who either decry that FPC is not doing enough (they should have more successes, and more sweeter), or that FPC is stealing the fire of other gun rights (I loathe the term) groups.
In either case, these people find that FPC cannot stand on its own. Yet, look which advocate for firearm owners are doing the most good.
The bickering between folks ostensibly on the side seems endless. At least the infighting of the anti-American socialists is somewhat behind closed doors, the Constitution-minded air their dirty laundry quite readily.
So...is this about open carry, or concealed? Like most legal "news," the intent is unclear.
ReplyDeletePretty sure it's concealed seeing as that's what the caption to the article reads.

Open carry is immediately, enhanced and concealed carry permits are to begin within 90 days.
DeleteKentucky has the same law, open carry from 18-20 then concealed at 21. Sadly 18-20 still can’t buy a handgun or handgun ammunition.
ReplyDeleteIt's my understanding that Tennessee doesn't differentiate between open carry and concealed. The state just sets the conditions to carry.
ReplyDeleteA tangent;

I don't know about this. As an old (really old fart) I have to say that 18 isn't what it once was.
