NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - An animal shelter is not mincing words when it comes to one dog who’s looking for a forever home after being returned three times.
Ralphie is described as an "adorable Frenchie with the attitude."
The Niagara SPCA in New York said it remains committed to helping Ralphie find a home but they are warning potential owners and not holding back.
My daughter took in one of those dogs that had already been returned by three prior families and it was a horrible experience. I would never do it. The dog finally mellowed out but it was several years of torture. I had a fantastic dog for more than 14 years because my wife “interviewed” a lot of dogs looking for a smart, calm friendly dog. That’s what I recommend.
....."We don't actually have too many nice things to say so we're just going to come out with it," the shelter wrote on its Facebook page. "He's a whole jerk- not even half. Everything belongs to him. If you dare test his ability to possess THE things, wrath will ensue. If you show a moment of weakness, prepare to be exploited. Sounds fun, huh?"...
I adopted my Big Buddy out of the Grass Valley animal shelter. His former owner said he was a chicken killer. I got my beloved, goofy OB from his second owner, who said he didn't like kids or babies.
I never experienced any of these problems from either of these two wonderful dogs. Which backs up my long-held opinion: I'm a better judge of dog flesh than are the people who think they're smarter on the subject than everyone else is.
When shopping for a dog that no one else wants, if you're truly a dog person, go with that little thing called gut instinct. It will probably beat the opinion of the person who is trying to get rid of that dog.
