Is tequila on the rocks? The next time you order a margarita, you might be holding back more than the salted rim.
Extreme weather during the past few years in Mexico and other areas of the world has hurt crop production of the base and main ingredient in tequila, according to Everstream Analytics' chief meteorologist Jon Davis.

Beer and tequila is all he drinks. He's got a nice little barroom in his shop which is stocked completely with different tequilas.
I'd drink the stuff when I was in California if it was offered to me, but it was never my first choice.
I drank quite a bit of the stuff but never liked the lime and salt. I just liked the taste of it. I got shit faced one the llme and salt one time. The next morning it felt like a hundred Indians with dirty feet had run aross my tongue.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much for the taste of tequila, but I never drank it with lime and salt. That was for the ladies according to all the Mexicans I drank with.
DeleteMy former Mexican in-laws offered me some tequila the first time I met them. They were in awe when I drank it straight up, because their pansy asses need the lime and salt. They thought there going to get something over on the college boy.
DeleteThe salt-and-lime routine is to cover the taste of cheap booze. Good tequila, like any good liquor, is smooth as silk.
DeleteBuddy and I downed a bottle of silver with a couple strippers one night after closing.
ReplyDeleteWas the only good experience I ever had with tequila.
How about telling us less about your experience with tequila and a bit more about the strippers. :-{D
DeleteI already drank all of my share of tequila along with some of my college buddies who still talk about the infamous "Pepe Lopez" incident.
ReplyDeleteYears ago my 3rd job was in a package store. Mostly I kept the beer shelves stocked on Friday and Saturday night. I came out of the cooler once in time to see and hear a couple of the Mexican customers pointing at the Tequila and talking about the Gringos that were stupid enough to eat the worm in the bottle.
ReplyDeleteThat would be Mezcal, not tequila.
DeleteOnly once in my life have I been so drunk that I only have vague memories of the festive evening. I do know it included a six-pack of Rainier pounders, rum and tequila. I don't drink hard alcohol much anymore, but I still enjoy beer, and I do OK with rum. But even the smell of tequila brings on a gag reflex for me.
ReplyDeleteDespite not remembering much of the binge, I very well recall the epic hangover the next morning.
Back when I was a young soldier, me and a couple buddies would kill a bottle of Jose before we went into the bars.
ReplyDeleteMuch cheaper night getting to the spirit world than buying it all at the club
My first time drinking tequila was when I crossed over to Juarez, Mexico while on a TDY to Fort Bliss. I was probably 19 and not an experienced drinker. The first bar we went to in Juarez had 25 cent tequila “poppers,” little shot glasses filled with a mixture of tequila and Sprite. I put a $5 on the bar thinking my buddies would join me. They told me it would be cooler if I drank them all myself. Not wanting to be a p*ssy, I did. I don’t remember much after that. I woke up sometime the next day wrapped around a toilet in the barracks. Haven’t had tequila since.
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely positive that I've heard the "extreme weather in Mexico" bit before, back in the day. Not that it matters to me, it's been 20 years. I don't even have dreams about booze anymore.
