I bought two kydex holsters a few years ago, one for a blued gun and the other for a satin finished stainless gun. They fucked up the finish badly. I was able to fix the blued gun by Duracoating it but the stainless is permanently scarred.
@SteveP It must be some bad damage. I have been able to polish out big scratches in stainless and then turn it back to a satin finish with a media blaster.
Anybody know if you can buy sheets of Kydex with a thin layer of leather bonded to one side? Could probably do it myself with contact cement but just wondered if it was available as a commercial product.
My first kydex holster was built by a guy in my town who made it in his basement while I watched. I have an M&P shield with a laser that was not common at the time and couldnt find any established holster maker who would make the holster without me shipping the gun to them. I still use the custom built one when I carry that gun. “We the people” holsters supplies the rest of my kydex needs. Do any of you readers know of a leather holster maker in mid michigan?
What does that holster's use do to the firearm's finish?
ReplyDeleteIt puts some definite wear on it. I've got a 3-4 kydex holsters, but rarely use them. I'll pay a little more for decent leather.
