I'm getting mixed signals here - I thought the government wanted us to eat bugs
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) — A popular fast food restaurant in Pensacola was given a surprise inspection after a viral social media post shows one customer got a little more than the chicken she ordered.
Roaches maybe the lesser of the evils when the insecticide residue is taken into account. Heat from the cooking process will kill the bacteria and viruses, but the pyrethrins and other insecticides that are used to target roaches do not decompose at cooking temperatures. Cancers and other maladies ensue over time, even when ingesting very small amounts.
I grew up in that sh*thole of a town. Bugs? Fuck, they're everywhere. Left when I was nineteen and, on the very rare visit, it only seems more run-down, filthy, and overrun with low rent carpetbaggers that can't afford South Florida, "muh diversity" (as if there wasn't enough of that already), and general fuckwittery out the wazoo. It used to be nice, but .. yeah, Pensacola sucks.
One time we got a new Chief Steward, and the Captain had him give a tour of the storeroom. The Captain reached into a bag of rice, expecting to find at least one live bug, since there're always bugs in a third world 50 kilo sack of rice. There were only dead bugs, no live ones. The Chief Steward proudly explained that whenever he found bugs, he sprayed them. Needless to say, that Chief Steward lost his job immediately.
Different governments. Republicans haven't bought off on you being forced to eat hugs yet, Democrats have. In 10 to 15 years the Republicans will want you to eat bugs and the Democrats will probably just want you to starve.
I have news for you. My brother graduated from Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and according to him, it is almost impossible to run a restaurant without bugs.
