Might want to sit this one out, partner

Alec Baldwin has been criticized on social media for reposting a message about gun control - after his own fatal shooting on the set of movie Rust.

The actor, who has been charged following the death of Halyna Hutchins, reposted the statement following the mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, where six people lost their lives.

  1. Oh no. Good for you Alec. Be ALWAYS blaming the GUN, not the IDIOT pulling the trigger.

  2. If moron Baldwin devoted one-tenth his anti-gun efforts to learning firearm safety rules, no one would have been killed at his hands.

    1. It's not that he didn't know the rules, it's that he thinks rules are only for the little people. Instead of getting the gun directly from the armorer, who was responsible for loading it correctly for each scene (dummy round or blanks), they had her come in and put the prepared guns in an unlocked cabinet, then leave. It was supposedly a COVID prevention measure, but it also meant she earned about 2 hours pay instead of 8 to 12. Did Baldwin get the wrong gun? Did he get the right gun, but someone had taken it out for some cowboy action shooting over the lunch hour? (If idiots weren't allowed to do that, there would have been no live ammo on the set and no chance of a gun being loaded with it.)

And then, no one has identified the part of the script where Baldwin would point a gun at the camera and pull the trigger, with someone standing behind the camera. So I don't know if he was _playing_ with the gun during rehearsal, or if they had a script that any competent armorer would have vetoed if she was there. Various people with actual filmmaking experience say that even in a shoot-em-up movie, you don't point a gun at someone, but use camera angles and tricks to make it look like a gun pointed in a safe direction is pointed at someone. Or if you want the camera to get a direct view down the muzzle, the camera operator will be standing off to the side.

And finally, they had already had two or three negligent discharges. Baldwin knew they were running the set dangerously. If he'd given a damn about safety, he'd have put on his director's hat and set to work correcting the problems, and also put on his actor's hat and refused to perform until the set was definitely safe.

    1. Alfalfa talk. Been many years since I've heard - or read in this case - someone using it. It was a big deal when I was a kid. Thanks for the memory.

  4. How many years have intelligent, careful people handled and used firearms without killing anyone? More than I can count. Now about this douchebag ?.......Alex needs a real job instead of pretending.

  8. he reposted something from "Peter Frampton"; another individual famous for music, not necessarily profound thought. And I might ask Peter, in all those days of no gun killings, how many "blokes" have been stabbed - or beheaded - in jolly ol' formerly great Britain?
