  1. My 17yo daughter just bought a '71 C10 with the gas tank behind the seat. She is taking auto tech at school and is going to use it as a project truck for next year's class. I drove it home that first night. Gas tank had a leak. Ain't no high like a spilled gas in the cab high. First thing she did was fix that leak. The sending unit didn't have a good seal. Inline 6. 3 on the tree. Will be good for her, since it ain't got no place to plug in a code reader and can be worked on with a hammer and bailing wire. Going through the school she can get the body work done for the cost of materials.

    3. The AF condemned a Dodge Powerwagon crash truck, 360/2bbl/4 speed manual (granny low) because the gas tank filler neck was cracked where it was brazed in.... Gas high is right: I picked it up and had if fixed before I got home (surplus sale), stopped at a parts store and got some JBWeld and slopped it right on: That's all it took.

  2. #20, me in 1968, for my 1961 Rambler, American, 210. It had a mighty 196 flat head, 3 on the tree, with a raging 125hp. Got 30mpg, the front seats folded down to make a real bed. Had a hot girl friend that John Deared me when I joined the Air Force. AAAHHHHH for the good old days.

  3. #18 Yep, learned to drive in a truck just like that one, except red, 283 ci. Motor and 2 speed power glide transmission.

  4. Just yanked the behind the seat tank in my 68 F-250. Not for the gas smell (there was a tiny bit-that's what the vent window's for) but because it gave me another 2" to 3" of space. Has an under the bed auxilliary tank, factory original, 16 gallon and that's all I need and just the primary now.

  5. #6 If that isn't for multiple people or multiple trips then the person drinking it is going to exit this reality.

  9. Many years ago, I went to my ten-year grad reunion. As much as I admitted I was (still am) a gearhead, it was disappointing to find out a girl I really liked didn't want to go out with me because, "he won't look at you unless you have a chrome bra."

  10. I drove a '64 Ford F-100 (precursor to today's F-150) with the same setup and a straight-six engine. Broke my heart when I traded it in.
