TN bill expanding gun access moves another step forward

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – On Tuesday, the Senate Judicial Committee passed a bill to expand gun access in Tennessee in a 7-2 vote.

However, the bill (SB 1503) has been met with opposition through the entire process, and that continued Tuesday afternoon.

“How can we give children, 18-year-olds in my eyes are still kids, the ability to carry around deadly tools?” said Sen. London Lamar (D-Memphis).

*****

Senator Lamar is under the impression that the thugs in her district will suddenly become law-abiding citizens if only they could outlaw them from carrying guns.

  1. Has the good senator never seen an 18 year old E3 machine gunner in the Infantry?

  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you join the military, they provide training and issue you a gun, at 18. Seems like senator Lamar doesn't think very hard.

  3. The shooting today will not help. The Libs are already out in force without any understanding.

    2. When the prognostication of the Wild West and blood in the streets fail to materialize, the gun grabbers have to create their own show.

And they have! Now they can say, See! That's what happenes when you ease gun restrictions.

But they 'forget' to mention, they did that.

  4. SB 1503 advanced after being gutted by the RINOs on the Senate Judiciary Committee . Again...
I'm embarrassed that my State Senator, Brent Taylor, lead the charge.

  5. Aren't the Dems the ones that wanted 18yo to be adults in 1971? Amend 26. Maybe a mistake but if 18yo are adults, they have same right to firearms as 48yo ... and consequences. Maybe military service/training should be required.

  6. So, a 14 year old can "choose" to destroy her child (and possibly her ability for future kids) without telling her parents and a six year old is capable of deciding their own gender, but an 18 year old able-to-vote (and draftable) young MAN isn't capable of managing a firearm. Got it. What a moron.

  7. London Lamar--TN's answer to Maxine Waters (if you concede that Memphis is part of TN, which I don't).

  8. Gun or Mom's 6,000 pound SUV what the hells the difference except with this the person is at least required to be 18, only 16 for Mom's SUV.

  9. I started carrying "deadly tools" when I was about 12. Handy for hunting and when necessary dispatching injured or sick livestock. At 18 the Army gave me access to whole new level of tools. I've never shot or killed anyone. Imagine that.
