Ukraine Battalion Commander fucks up propaganda bullshit, gets demoted

Ukraine has demoted a top battlefield commander after he admitted his unit had been decimated in fighting around the city of Bakhmut.

The battalion commander, known by his call sign Kupol, gave an unusually frank assessment of Ukrainian losses in an interview from the front lines earlier this week.

He revealed that all of the original 500 soldiers in his unit had either been killed or injured, a rare acknowledgement from inside the Ukrainian ranks, where losses are kept strictly confidential.

  1. That's... REALLY not what "decimated" means. "Massacred" is what he means. Decimated means 1 in 10 lost. So this is *at least* ten times worse than that.

  2. Oh, and also the very next paragraph "Ukrainian army may have taken 120,000 casualties compared with 200,000 by the Russian army."

I.E. They're still stumping for Ukraine, repeating numbers known to be false in an attempt to bolster moral, get more funding (which then goes to democrat pockets), and conceal what's actually going on.

It's hard to get worse training that "doesn't know how to shoot a rifle or throw a grenade" and "refused to shoot because he's scared of the sound of the gunshot". To claim, with that training, that the Russians casualties are higher? That makes no sense to me. More likely it's just an outright lie, and Ukraine's casualties are (much) higher than the Russians, especially given the political incentives (requirements, remember it's the MSM) to lie about it.

(I'm not military, for what that's worth. I'm sure the people with more experience in the field would have different insights.)

  3. I wonder what shape the Ukraine military is inthe propaganda we hear all the time is how bad of shape the Russian military is and how they are going to run out of artillery shell any day and how many of their sons we have help kill off by supporting Ukraine but never anything about the shape of Ukraine only they need another couple billion doses for something so we can't spend it on the American people the Ukrainians need it more

    1. NATO is said to be sending 300,000 troops to the Russian border. I don’t think they’d be doing that if Ukraine was winning.

  4. “Decimation” of course, means that 1 in 10 were killed, not everyone
