From a reader:
As I see you as a great purveyor of all things esoteric, I thought I might run this by you and see if you can identify it. This belonged to my father-in-law and my wife just found it a few days ago. Alas, he's no longer with us to enlighten us as to what this is. We can't think of anything it might be used for.
Thanks
Quick release key fob.
ReplyDeleteSome kind of detachable pocket watch clip?
ReplyDeleteThat is a keychain, that can come apart. Think car keys and house keys on one side, work keys on the other side.
ReplyDeleteTom762
Looks like a bracelet clasp.
ReplyDeleteKey chai
ReplyDeleteOld style bog standard key chain link to allow you to put a pair of rings and separate the car key (usually) from the house keys when you drop it off for service. Pre idiot key fob mania.
ReplyDeleteMight be a key holder where you leave the keys in the ignition ,and unlock a gate without having to shut your truck off. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteIf he played golf, it looks like a divid tool.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a quick release key holder. Snap one end on a belt loop, and unhook it when you need your key!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a separable key ring chain.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a two part key chain. The box hooks to a belt or ring. The keys go on the insertable clip. Simply squeeze and disconnect when you want to use the key.
ReplyDeleteIt's a quarter...you can spend it kinda like cash.
ReplyDeleteIt is a key holder.... parts missing. Keys go on both sides, and the holder can be separated to give house keys to some one, and car keys to another. Cabin keys to one, boat keys to another, Etc etc. Rejoined when returned to owner.
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like a break away key holder,
ReplyDeleteLooks like a key chain/fob that is missing some sort of medallion on the right side. I've seen similar in years past. It could also have had house key on one end and car key on the other so could be separated and given to someone to unlock house while car is being parked.
ReplyDeleteWhat they said. Key chain. I had one at some point in days past.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a detachable key holder. Sort of a pull-apart configuration by compressing the forks when together…and click locks back into place when inserted into the metal block receiver.
ReplyDeleteKey chain that can be separated. Only give Valet Car keys.
ReplyDeleteNot House keys that could be copied. I have several separated key chains. I keep ignition key separate and separate it to not have all the keys dangling from switch. In some cases too many keys dangling can cause wear in the lock cylinder.
I'm going to have to go with 'Billy' for the win! My father-in-law was an avid golfer. I did a search for divit tools and found many similar.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the effort guys.
