Food stamp woes worsen Alaska hunger

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska (AP) — Thousands of Alaskans who depend on government assistance have waited months for food stamp benefits, exacerbating a long-standing hunger crisis worsened by the pandemic, inflation and the remnants of a typhoon that wiped out stockpiles of fish and fishing equipment.

  1. Here's an idea. Instead of sending millions of American tax dollars to Ukraine. Let's help our own people first. They need help.

    1. Will never happen, know why?
Because if they gave it to us and asked for the usual 35% kickback/ money laundering to the Demo Commies we would tell them to go F**K themselves...

    1. When you don’t live up here people have no idea about how few roads we have. The majority of the people on assistance live in small villages and have no way to simply leave. AND the prices they pay for food is insane even before the prices we pay now. And now those prices are even worse.

  4. Anyone remember the SNAP glitch this past summer where people in cities like Philly, Cleveland, Detroit couldn't use their SNAP cards. Notice anything similar in those cities? Alaska is rich in resources. Imagine if there were a lot less indigenous people there who relied on SNAP who got the benefits of those resources through their state gov. Really folks, look at the big picture here.

    1. Yes Alaska is rich in resources. Guess who owns the most of the land up here and the resources? Here’s a hint, they work in Washington DC.
