I've always said, trust the dog's instincts

President Joe Biden received a warm welcome from Irish President Michael Higgins on Thursday. Less so from his dog.

As the two leaders made their way into the grounds of the Irish president's residence for a tree planting ceremony, Higgins tried to introduce his American counterpart to Misneach, one of his enormous Bernese Mountain dog.

But Misneach — named for the Irish word for 'courage — was having none of it.

  1. The dog could probably smell the crap in his pants and was not going to let that guy schiff on him.

  2. I was walking around the neighborhood earilier this week and one familys kids were out playing in the yard with a new dog I had never seen before. He's a full size mixed breed of somekind and very young appearing to be just out of puppyhood. Anyway as I walked by this dog runs out and without barking at me just walks along keeping himself between me and the kids until I was well past their yard. I thought to myself - "That's a good dog".

    1. my old dog jack used to do that as well. but he was trained to guard and protect the kids. back then I knew a guy who was taking care and training the dogs that they used
around Leavenworth. he took jack for 3 weeks before he brought him back.
then spent a whole day teaching US how to control him

  3. Dogs are the best judges of people. If a dog doesn't trust you, I see no reason to either.

    1. Yes, but Michael Higgins is still at least twice the man Brandon ever was.

  9. Neighbors had a Bernese. Friendly as can be when walked by the parents. When parents were pushing the baby stroller the dog was On Duty ... and I made sure to stay back and tip my hat.
