Judge cancels Montana gas plant permit over climate impacts

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A judge canceled the air quality permit for a natural gas power plant that’s under construction along the Yellowstone River in Montana citing worries over climate change.

State District Judge Michael Moses ruled Thursday that Montana officials failed to adequately consider the 23 million tons of planet-warming greenhouse gases that the project would emit over several decades.

    1. Isn't there a train station in Idaho at which the bottom is deposited those things that are either of no more use or are contrary to what needs to be?...careful, judge....

  2. Gee, it seems like only a few years ago natural gas fired power plants were one of the cleanest sources of energy available. Now they're going to destroy the planet.
    Isn't that remarkable.

    1. First it was smog and acid rain from leaded gas. Methane was supposed to be the answer. So we fixed the car’s emission to produce water vapor and CO2.
Now it’s carbon and cow farts.
They don’t want a “fix”. They want communism.
We need to return to the days of
“Kill a commie forMommy” if we want to continue.

    2. Have you ever noticed that the things the commies tell us are going to kill us can't be seen, felt, smelled or touched? And many times, the proof of their existence lie in photos, charts and graphs that the commies themselves have created?
      Funny how that works.

  3. Billings isn’t in Montana. It’s in West Dakota.

    1. Maybe West North Dakota, don't lump South Dakota into that madness.

    2. @Mark you need a sense of humor. That guy is obviously a Montanan. We call the eastern half of the state West Dakota.

  4. Are they going to switch the heating and power at the state courthouse to solar and wind? This judge should be willing to put his body where his pen is. Let him wear a parka to court in the Montana winter.

    1. Government buildings are backed up with Diesel. “They” aren’t going to run out of heating and air conditioning.

  5. Those "greenhouse gases" are water vapor and CO2 which combine to make plants grow. So the Judge wants us to starve because he does not understand basic science.

  6. Water quality suffers with the energy extraction often. Tap water on fire, do not drink.
    Energy independence is important.
I enjoy clean water from the ground, too.

  9. I guess this judge is descended from Moses Moses. His kind are supposed to be highly cunning and intelligent. This judges seems to be neither

  11. As America is killed by 1000 green cuts - the world's enviro harpies completely ignore is China - Paris Climate Accord et al give China a pass on emissions until 2035

Meanwhile - last year the CO2 output by China made a record. China's footprint was MORE than every other nation COMBINED

    You read that right

Likewise, one private jet trip to Davos = same CO2 footprint of a cattle farmer who will feed 1600 people for an entire YEAR

These fukers are destroying the economy Trump proved was possible w inexpensive energy. Our "betters" simply can't allow a burgeoning middle class bc we consume too much & get uppity...

  12. Activist judge. Judges are supposed to decide points of law, not promote fantasy pseudo science.
