Physician, pharmacist face manslaughter charges after patient death

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Two medical professionals are facing felony charges after the wrong dose of medication led to an elderly patient’s death back in 2020.

In a new court filing from May 11, 2023, the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office charged Justin Samuel Lee and Dr. Alexander Frank under Oklahoma statutes with second-degree manslaughter (culpable negligence that caused the unlawful death of a human) and neglect by caretaker (the defendant neglected a vulnerable adult entrusted to his care, and the defendant’s negligent acts or omissions resulted in harm).

Sad, it sounds like everybody dropped the ball on this one.
Lisa takes Methotrexate for her RA and you better believe when she was prescribed the new drug, I asked for the consultation. I asked him any questions I might have from the time of day it should be taken, any precautions we should take, I verified the dosage with him and if there were any possible interactions with the drugs she's already prescribed.

  1. I believe that a lot more people die from doctor's mistakes than guns, knives and clubs.

    1. That is true. The number is about 300k per year in the US. Guns and auto accidents are about 40k per year in the US. The gun number drops way down if you take out all the suicides.

    2. I believe the number is 300,000 to 450,000 yearly from all medical mistakes. Anyone whose spent any time at all in and around hospital situations won't find those numbers surprising.

    3. Used to be the 4th leading cause of death. If it’s gone to 350-400K, that would put it at #2. Cardiovascular disease is #1.

  3. Last month my elderly mom was in the hospital for a broken leg and knees from a fall. They overdosed her with morphine. Took two doses of narcan and 24 hours for her to come out of it.

    1. They're democrats. And the "elite" pedophiles. If they're not going to face charges for personally torturing, raping, and drinking the blood of children, why the hell would they face charges for doing what they were told by their masters?

And if they by chance DID face charges, the judge would be instructed to dismiss the charges, or wave the sentencing, or whatever they thought they could get away with given their control of the judiciary, media, and etc. The chance of any of them seeing any consequence for their actions, beyond the payouts and privileges they've already gotten, are essentially nil.

Unless and until the revolution comes. People forget that the Nuremberg trials occurred AFTER Germany lost the war. If Germany hadn't lost, it would all have been swept under the rug, denied, supressed, etc. Which is what had been happening up until that point, and is what's happening with similar atrocities in our country right now.

But if we elect Trump, he'll go after them! Right. Whatever. "You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out." Trump was given different lines to read, but reports to the same masters as Fauci, Hillary, and all the rest. Jury's still out on Desantis, but I strongly suspect the same. And if not, they'll just arrange an assassination within the first 30 days or so of his presidency, problem solved!

  6. My wife is on a variety of medications for a lot of medical issues. I took the time to research and document every one of them. Whenever one of her docs asks about meds or is considering something new or making a change I have all of that information so we can cover everything ahead of time. I keep and review everything from the pharmacy. We have caught and corrected some problems some meds have created. The doctors tell me that I am one of the few who really keep track of stuff. Most people just do whatever they are told and don't pay much attention.

  7. Never, ever fail to forget that the lowest scoring graduate from Medical School is called Doctor. Doctors are just people some with addictions, mental illnesses, go through divorces and the list goes on. My wife and I research every doctor before we go to them and check every medication prescribed. Of couse we ask the doctor lots of questions but that is just a part of it. We use John Hopkins and the Mao Clinic when we want accurate information. I used the PDR extensivly in my field of work so that comes in handy too. I use the VA so like socialize medicine I unfortunatly get the doctor they give me. However and as said, I take none of the medications until I have research it. More than once I have gone into my VA site and discontinued medicines with the pharmacy without ever taking the first pill. Doctors are not gods and far from the brightest people on the planet as some people seem to think. Smart absoulutly that a hands down. However, in my opinion our brightest are our scientists.

    1. Scientists, no. They provide the answers that they're paid to find. They're some of the most dishonest people around.
The majority of their work cannot be reproduced.

  9. Was just talking to a friend yesterday about how cops are held to a higher legal stander then doctors have to make quicker judgement calls get less training and less respect and pay. Medical mistake kill people every day and this is the first I can every recall anyone ever being charged for anything in my lifetime

    1. No. Most of the time prosecutors refuse to prosecute cops for obviously criminal actions, and the courts made up "qualified immunity" to protect them from lawsuits. Both doctors and cops should be held to higher standards.

  10. A year or so back, my doc wrote a new script. During the consultation, I listed my current (cancer patient, so quite a few) and asked how to take this new one. I was told take with or without food, morning or evening, with the other meds or without.

Took in the morning with the rest of the morning meds, after breakfast. Got sick, horribly sick, dizzy, tummy in turmoil, weak limbs. Called the drug company emergency line, and was told that the med has to be taken on an empty stomach, can't eat or take other meds for at least 2 hours. It was a once a month med, and I was sick for at least 3 weeks after that fiasco.

    NEVER trust the consultation.

    Cheers, LindaSoG

  11. Has no one learned anything from C19? Why would you trust medical providers or pharma at all?

    1. I trust my wife's doctor and pharmacist completely, both of them told my wife to NOT get vaccinated given her medical problems.
Lisa wasn't seriously considering it, but thought she'd ask anyway.

    2. I take Methotrexate for RA. You must take folic acid with it.

    3. Injectable or oral? Lisa's pharmacist can't get the injectable since her last refill and had to switch her over to the tablets.
And you're right about the folic acid.
