For the first time, U.S. regulators on Wednesday approved the sale of chicken made from animal cells, allowing two California companies to offer "lab-grown" meat to the nation's restaurant tables and eventually, supermarket shelves.

I'll take a hard pass. Support your local farmer and rancher.
I’m living in a damn horror movie.
ReplyDeleteFuck. That. Shit!
ReplyDeleteNext up, Cultured(TM) Fetus Burgers.
ReplyDeleteWith arugula, apple slice, and basil pesto on a toasted bun.
DeleteYou can't beat your meat. Somehow that seems appropriate for the topic of this article.
ReplyDeleteGives new mening to "chokin the chicken" as well......
DeleteThis is a mile stone, not a good one either.
DeleteAnd we shall call it, Soylent Green
ReplyDeleteIsn't that how some zombie movies start?
ReplyDeleteYeah, read an article the other day that says it causes “turbo cancer”. Of course, everything from the weather to grade schools is doom porn now so I don’t know what to think. I know I’m not eating the shit. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeleteeven after fda testing showed it caused "super cancers" that spread quickly and are hard to fight.
ReplyDeleteIsn't lab-grown meat already proven to be a major cause of cancer?
ReplyDeleteThere hasn't been enough actually made so far to be tested.
DeleteCancer anyone? They're killing us off in whatever way they can... We are the carbon they want to reduce. Jesus is coming soon.
ReplyDeleteJust think how many cats this will save around your local zipper head buffet!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in it for long term space exploration and exploitation.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I'm a hard pass.
Does the process used to make this crap sound any greener than a single bovine grazing in a grassy green field that can eventually provide enough protein naturally to feed a couple of families for a year? It sure doesn't to me.
ReplyDeleteIt's a frickin' joke that will be marketed to affluent city airheads who will buy and eat it while thinking they're helping to save the planet.
Sometimes I think the owners of these companies know they are scamming the people that will buy their product, knowing they'll get rich in the process while being hailed as heros.
Pretty sure i saw this in a horror movie once.
ReplyDeleteExile1981
"California Companies" was enough for me to say: nope.
ReplyDeleteBerkeley, Emeryville (just north of Berkeley) and Alameda (just south of Berkely) are the cities named in the article.
DeleteThat should tell you everything you need to know about this crap.
Nothing good (or sane) ever comes out of Berkeley.
... as in UC "Berserkely"

So? How long before "certain people" start asking for lab grown HUMAN flesh?
ReplyDeleteWTF??? On a lighter note, it was good to see you attending the Armed Attorneys YouTube video, Ken. I've seen you in attendance before but this was the first time I was early enough to say hey.
ReplyDeleteHA! I try to catch their premiers on Mondays and Wednesdays. Some days I make it, some I don't. It did surprise me to be greeting by Wirecutter in their chat, though. I was going nuts trying to connect your name there with a screen name here.
DeleteWon't be long before they'll pass laws making it illegal to label this garbage accurately. They want to fool people into thinking fake meat is the real deal.
ReplyDelete"Upside experts take cells from live animals"
ReplyDeleteSo they're still killing chickens to make the fake chicken. Then they put it through processes that cost over 10 times as much as just raising chickens.
