#3 - The next mayor of Seattle right there. #4 - Damn kids. What's his problem? #6 - Western civilization sped up. #7 - Just think, that was 90% skin flakes from curry eating, already stinking people. They probably put that shit in a jar and sell it on Amazon. #8 - How could a man let a bird defeat him? I could see an Ostrich, Emu, or even a Swan, but damn...
#6 First having a camera on it was a good idea, you can show someone when you tell them, "I missed it by that much".. I wonder how many hours it too to get to that point? I wonder how many times he started over?
No software system is as easy as it seems. Many problems seem intractable at first glance. But every problem I have seen can be reduced from staggering complexity to subsystems that can each be broken down until you have objects that are relatively well understood and controllable. The key is defining the attributes of the underlying subsystems and defining interfaces that allow the objects to be monitored and controlled in terms of real responses.
There is talent involved and quite a bit of experience is required before you can grasp the complexities and develop a good, solid approach to plumbing the intricacies. I like to think I did it well as I was actively pursued several times in my life to come and solve very complex problems. I was told my solutions were innovative and many systems I wrote ran for years after I moved on to other tasks. The biggest challenge is graceful degradation when planning for unforeseen situations, especially when poor planning could result in disasters leading to death or massive destruction.
#2 I did that with a wheelbarrow load of concrete going up a plank on an incline. I was way too small to do that job. 5/7- 140 @ 18 yrs. old, but at least he gave me a try. DiBucci Brothers. Mufflerking.

ReplyDeleteA traditional thought experiment on software engineering for systems is to design an elevator controller. Not as easy as it seems.
