I haven't listened to this album yet, but looking at the song list on the album cover I see they managed to leave out the very best song he ever put out, Death Row, which is bluesy as fuck.
I'll throw that in for your listening pleasure.
DEATH ROW (4 minutes, crank it up!)
Check out "Two Brothers " from Divided and United. Also Maggie's song, but you'll cry.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Love his bluesey style
ReplyDeleteLeft ya a present over at my websty, Ken. Two, actually. Don't know whether I can link to it here or not, but you'll know it when you see it. ;)
ReplyDeleteRight on, very cool article.
DeleteI don't know how I found out about Chris Stapleton seeing as I stopped listening to pop country radio stations before he put out his first album, but it seems like I've heard most of his songs.
Oh, he's something else all right. Can't listen to his songs just one time, gotta replay
Deleteem several times, i just can't help myself. What a voice he has!
I have a bad tendency when I''m writing about other players to get bogged down in the minutiae of their onstage gear setup--amps, guitars, pedals, etc. This one was no exception, I'm afraid...ahem.
I posted over at Mike's a little bit of my thoughts regarding Chris, and the "difference between whiskey and you..." About the time that song came out, my wife of 30 years was ripping my heart and my family apart, to 'discover' herself, with some young asshole... I love the song, and Chris' music, even though years later it still stings like fuck.
ReplyDeleteBut, as he sings... "that's the difference..."
