Tennessee lawmakers react after judge rejects ‘anti-drag’ law as unconstitutional

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Several Tennessee lawmakers took to Twitter over the weekend to express their opinions after a controversial law restricting some drag shows in the state was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge.

Late on Friday, June 2, a federal judge in Shelby County ruled in favor of Friends of George’s Inc. in a lawsuit arguing that the Adult Entertainment Act was an unconstitutional restriction on free speech under the First Amendment.

  1. "Taking to Twitter" doesn't eliminate the problem. It's an emotional reaction like screaming after you slam your thumb with a hammer. It might make you feel good for a moment, but your blue, soon to be nailess thumb is still there.

  2. I'm going to guess the "capable" "Tennessee lawmakers" have no way to bankrupt the operators of "Friends of George’s" *Inc*. And their bank. And their children. And grandchildren. And their employees. And their children. And grandchildren. And their neighbors. And their neighbors' descendants. And any, nay *every* Nashville apparatchik that gets in the way.

That would require competency. And we know competency's gone Galt.

  3. The constitution was designed to govern a civil and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for any other. Tennessee has been sued by the any other to retain a right they lack standing to bring charges. The rule of law is not now nor ever been for the lawless hoards .

  4. Nowhere in the article do they name the "Federal Judge" that issued the restraining order. Until these assholes are identified, labeled, and their records reviewed can they be dealt with legally.
