Where bad choices make good stories
"It would include 'universal background checks, raising the firearm purchase age to 21, instituting a firearm purchase waiting period, and barring the civilian purchase of assault weapons.'"You mean all the stuff CA, NY, NJ, CT et al already have that doesn't work for shit??
If he thinks that he needs to codify the assault weapon restriction with a Constitutional Amendment, does that mean the other restrictions in place now are null and void (like the machine gun ban)?
That's the honest way to attempt to change the Constitution - try to get a near-consensus to _change_ it, rather than trying to get judges to misconstrue some words and ignore others. I'd like to see Newsome find someone in the House and Senate to _try_ it and push it to a vote. There's no way they can get a 2/3 majority in even one house, but this will make each Congress member's position on gun rights clear and a major election issue, and I think it will result in a many fewer gun bigots in Congress.
That was nice of the Today Show to provide Xavin with the free air time to launch his bid to replace Xiden in 2024.
There are at least three falsehoods in that article. The Congress can’t pass an amendment by itself. They still need two thirds of state legislatures to approve of the amendment. Second, the “mass shootings” the one at the graduation was a gang or personal attack. Third, most mass shooting involve pistols not semiautomatic rifles. So, this is “fake news” at its finest. JFM
3/4 of the state legislatures. But first they need 2/3 of each house of Congress, and they won't get that in either house anytime soon, unless about a third of the Republicans in Congress decide to lose their next primary.
That'll take a Constitutional Convention. Good luck with that.
Newsom, like all neo-liberals, is a chronic mental masturbater.
Don't even enter into a debate about it with these clowns. Its a trap.
As usual, if that asshole, slicky boy Haircut's lips are flapping he's lying. How can one person be so fucking full of shit?
He's born into it, from a family of old San Francisco money. His Daddy was Gordon Getty's financial advisor and manager, besides being a Superior Court judge appointed by Moonbeam. Look at it this way. He wants to end oil and gas drilling in CA while all of his private businesses have been financed by Getty oil money. That right there is the epitome of full of shit hypocrisy.
PELOSI'S FUCKING NEPHEW!SO DYSLEXIC HE'S NEARLY COMPLETELY ILLITERATE.AS QUALIFIED FOR THE POSITION AS A BUFFALO WING!CC
He's definitely wanting to run for President, this is an early "See how wonderful I am!" to the leftists.
Technically, he's correct. The 18th amendment is still there in the constitution. Not so much as a period has changed since it was ratified in 1919. His argument falls apart if someone were to compare his proposal to the 21st amendment and what it did to the 18th.
18th:re -- intoxicating liquours [sic].That goofy mess:* allows possession and home-made and consumption,* prohibits commercial manufacture and transport and sale. And, apparently, enforcement of such contradictory wording left a lot of latitude to LawEnforcementOfficials.
