Multiple neighbors told CBS13 that a disabled veteran in a wheelchair was on his typical walk with his dog early Tuesday morning just before 6.

People wanting to 'share' their music with you is just one of the many things about California I don't miss. You can be sitting at an intersection waiting for the light to change, I don't care what time of the day it is, and have to listen to the bass beat coming from 7 different cars at the same time.
Shit, I don't even listen to music I like that loud.
Same bullshite here (deep south Texas, along the Tex-Mex border). Open windows blaring out rap or deep bass whale farts or ai ai ai-ai music at burst eardrum level. WTF man, keep that $hit to yourself ! Even with windows up, still hear it loud and clear. Road rage enabling and for the record, am of Hispanic descent so not hating on our Latin friends music taste.
ReplyDeleteOur replacements from south of the border seem to have a preference for loud music, noisy mufflers, going fast, driving drunk and underage girls.
ReplyDeleteChange my mind.
I think it was an Andrew Dice Clay line: "I was listening to rap this afternoon ... A jeep went by a quarter of a mile away, and EVERYBODY was listening to rap..."
ReplyDeleteMy farm is about 3 miles from the nearest small town of 1500 with an oil road about 250 yards from the house. I get serenaded daily by numerous vehicles going by with the bass thumping. I can hear them coming from a mile away. Especially bad when school is in session.
ReplyDeleteDecades ago, a coworker had the problem with late night music from one neighbor. All the neighbors got together and blasted elevator music at that house at 6am. She said they actually got the hint.
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard the subwoofers so much around here in the last few years but there's a guy up the street who must have straight pipes on his big pickup. Really gets you up when he goes to work before daylight. When I was a teen (ahem!) even glass packs would get you a visit with Judge Dean, the bane of teenage drivers.
ReplyDeleteI used to run 14" Cherry Bombs on my old 64 Chevy truck, but I had the decency to idle my way from the house and low RPM shifts until I got out of town, especially in the early morning hours.

Neither do they, really, but they want another to join them in their seek for approval. A boot through the speaker and a belt across their back would be the kindest option.....then. Now.....run. And when cornered, kill everyone not leaving you alone...it's the only way.

Sounds like that veteran did one last service for his community.
ReplyDeleteI used to drive around blasting loud music when I was younger and dumber. One thing that made me smarten up was realizing that driving around like that in the middle of the night attracts the attention of people like the police. That was probably the main thing that changed my behavior.
ReplyDeleteMusic can be annoying but what I CAN'T STAND is the loud vehicles in the summer causing noise pollution for a 100 square mile area. If I ever find a genie, I can promise one wish is going to making sure that no car, truck, or motorcycle anywhere in the world will ever run without a proper muffler installed.
The last semester when I finished my degree, some guys moved into my apartment complex, and decided to share their rap "music" with the neighborhood. After about 30 seconds of that shit, I opened my door and windows, turned the volume on my stereo up to max, and put on a CD of bagpipe music. I played only one selection, then shut everything down. They never even offered to share their "music" with the neighborhood again.
ReplyDeleteHad a dinner on sidewalk cafe in Lugano. 3 hours with traffic continuously going by. Never heard any travelers music. I guess lack of diversity has some advantages.
