You're forgetting that he's being charged in Canada and he's a foreigner. Given that it's a non-violent offence and our prisons are overcrowded the most he will is get 2 years minus a day and the time he spent in jail awaiting trial will count towards it. A sentence of over two years means you have to go to a penitentiary with the hardcore criminals, if your sentence is less than 2 years you can serve it in a low-security detention center. If you have a job you may be allowed to serve your sentence on weekends. In this case if he claims undue hardship (his relatives can't visit, he has medical needs, etc) and the judge is soft-hearted he might just get sentenced to time served and be deported. Al_in_Ottawa
Yup - he should be much more concerned about the losing $600K, and if it wasn't actually his money, figuring out how he's going to repay the syndicate.
Clint Eastwood's character in The Mule comes to mind. Maybe not so confused in his old age with the interwebs and GPS, and a bunch of loot hidden suspiciously.
Juan & his brother were trying to go to the Bellingham airport to pick someone up. Got on I-5. Ended up at the Blaine border crossing. In line. Deported. I sorry, but I laughed. He swore up & down he was legal. Until the real owner of his social security number (or another fraudster) claimed unemployment across the country in Ohio.
You don't suppose this guy started out with 400 and One pounds? Jerry
