Well, you do want your training to be as realistic as possible, right?

A police department in Georgia is apologizing after posting now-deleted footage showed several white participants in a handgun training course shooting a photo of a black man for target practice. The footage has sparked outrage among some in the community.

  1. They have their place as a shoot/no shoot scenario. Usually one side has a person with a weapon, the other does not.

  2. If that's the target of the Black, loin cloth garbed, LeShawnda running away with a watermelon under his arm the object is to waste the guy, but hitting the melon disqualifies you.

    1. The word "black" needn't be capitalized....

    2. Black should only be capitalized when it's the first word in a sentence.

  3. Back in 2015, the North Miami Beach Fla police got caught using mugshots for target practice. Some of them were black. There was a bit of outrage but no repercussions.

    1. The current Democratic leadership is not even upset when black shooters are using actual white people as targets - not until it's one of their elite rather than any of us deplorables.

  7. some "ranges" i have been to no longer allow the black silhouettes for the same reason. Ludicrous!

  8. The pistol group at my club went with the blue silhouette targets for that reason.

  9. I'd normally agree with the Anonymous commenter who quoted Shakespeare, but I think the outrage might (and I repeat "might") be somewhat justified after seeing this quote from the report:"Online commenters critiqued the apparent sole use of images with a Black male." The word "sole" is the problem and if that's the case, well ...

  11. And if they were white, it would be fine... WTF? They had to pick one or the other.
