I arrived at A Co., 503rd CAB in September, 1979. Most of the air crew in my unit were veterans of the Viet Nam war. The stories told in this clip are the same stories I heard from those men who, just a couple years earlier, had done the deeds told about in this video. Their bombast and bravado would often fade to tears after a couple of drinks when they would start truly reminiscing about their fallen comrades.
As a grunt we called those scout choppers, misquitoes. They sure were quiet. Several times on patrol alla sudden there was this little chopper swooping back and forth between the trees. They would also be hauling ass. They were so low ya could have hit them with a rock. That is absolutley no exaggeration. Good video.
