U.S. officials say King crossed the demarcation line and entered North Korea “willfully” on July 18, after skipping out on his scheduled flight back to Fort Bliss, Texas. He had been deemed by U.S. Forces Korea to be “an embarrassment to the United States,” according to documents obtained by The Messenger.

Why bother? He made his decision and he's North Korea's problem now. The only thing I would do is bar him from ever reentering the US again in case the North Koreans get tired of his shit and wants to send him back.
AWOL and Missing Movement are both enough for a Court-martial if he gets back in to ROK territory alive. No need for the media attention of a Desertion trial.
ReplyDeleteI have a sneaking suspicion if the NORKs ever tire of his shenanigans...he might just mysteriously die of unknown causes. Koreans, like most Asians, are not averse to beating people they deem to be miscreants...even for something as subjective as "not showing enough respect"--heaven forbid if the miscreant actually does something that's either illegal or goes against societal norms.
ReplyDeleteYou don't think Biden Inc will try a Brittney Griner play, don't we have any Norks in custody?
ReplyDelete- WDS
I'm going to venture a guess here and say if we DID have any Norks in custody, they don't wanna go back.
DeleteI hope a reverse-extradition slap-fight erupts between the US and NoKo:
ReplyDeleteYOU take him back! No, YOU keep him! We don't want him! Neither do we!
That is what I would like to see between Canada and Cuba over who has to take Ted Cruz back.
DeleteOr Justin Trudope
DeleteI like Ted Cruz.
DeleteAre there military rules that they are trying to avoid by not declaring him a deserter? Like they would be forced to court martial him, making the military look like the incompetent bunch of lousy liberal leaders that they are?
ReplyDeleteJust asking I don't really know.
I think if we declare him a POW, the Norks will treat him accordingly. Better that they treat him as a civilian.
DeleteHe's a deserter, end of subject. Which unfortunately gives him special status in the (Obama)Biden regime.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares.
ReplyDeleteHe's a deserter. Leave him over there and let him rot.
ReplyDeleteMy last month in the Navy, winter 67/68, I was stationed at NAS Brunswick, ME. Since I was a short timer and there was no need for my specialty; all the billets were full, they assigned me as a brig guard. A couple times a week, the shore patrol or local and or state police would drop off AWOLS from all branches that were caught in Maine. Once we got an actual Army deserter who had been in the wind for over a year. That guy was in the brig awaiting pick up by the Army where he would eventually be court marshaled.
ReplyDeleteWhen we got a new prisoner, the first thing I had to do was escort the person, handcuffed, to the barbershop for a scalping. I was instructed by the brig warden, an E-6 Boatswains Mate, to have the prisoner stand against the wall with his nose on the wall when at the barbershop. The first time I did that there were a couple of women dependents there with their kids to get haircuts.
One of them started to complain to me that the prisoner were being mistreated because he was handcuffed and made to stand against the wall. I looked her in the eye and asked her to explain how people that violated their oath of service by desertion should be treated. She had nothing further to say.
As to Private King, if he is ever returned to U.S. custody, he should be flown to Leavenworth, court marshaled for AWOL, missing movement and Desertion; then given the maximum sentence for his trouble.
I hear the sadistic bastard guards at Leavenworth especially like deserters.
This kid thought he had it so rough in his unit that he was forced to run away. Wait 'til he gets to Leavenworth. He'll find out the true meaning of rough.
Leavenworth is where that other deserter, Bowe Bergdahl, should be for the rest of his life.

Hey, maybe he’s getting used to filet of cockroach over there. He definitely ain’t gettin’ any fried chicken!
ReplyDeleteWatermelon or purple drank neither.
DeleteLmao ! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiit . Don't forget Chitlin's , dem's good eat'n !
DeleteIIRC, unless he's declared a deserter, he will continue to accumulate pay and benefits. If he has a family, they would continue to have access to his paycheck, housing allowance, PX privileges, and health services. If he does return, he may face a Courts Martial, but look what happened to Bowe Berdahl: The BrObama administration made him into a hero.
ReplyDeleteHe was being shipped back to the US for what I suspect was a Big Chicken Dinner. Set his date of separation as July 18th, give him a dishonorable, close the books on him.
ReplyDelete885. ARTICLE 85. Desertion
ReplyDelete(a) Any member of the armed forces who–
(1) without authority goes or remains absent from his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to remain away therefrom permanently; (2) quits his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to avoid hazardous duty or to shirk important service; or (3) without being regularly separated from one of the armed forces enlists or accepts an appointment in the same or another on of the armed forces without fully disclosing the fact that he has not been regularly separated, or enters any foreign armed service except when authorized by the United States; is guilty of desertion.
QED... the clown is a deserter.
It is up to the unit commander to process him as a deserter. By not doing so, the unit commander is derelict in his duties, and is making it more likely other people will desert due to the perceived lowering of the penalty incurred. To pay a deserter at a minimum is improper. This whole clown show is probably getting stage managed by higher for some unknowable purpose.
He was in the brig for beating up Koreans in the local bars. I'd bet the Norks are giving him a taste of racism back. He'll come back like Otto Warmbier.
