Gov. Bill Lee: ‘No reason to speed this process up’ to resume executions in TN

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The South Carolina Department of Corrections announced Tuesday that after 12 years of paused executions, the state now has the execution drug it needed.

However, despite having once searched for months to acquire the same drug and having halted executions in Tennessee, Gov. Bill Lee (R-Tennessee) sees “no reason to speed up this process” of establishing new lethal injection protocols.

  5. No sense bein in a hurry. I do not have much faith in the "Law Enforcement Officers" and other members of the "Criminal Justice System" nor do I trust other "Officers of the Courts" or their minions . Too many people are in the slammer based on the testimony of known liars . Dirtbags who murder ought to face a firing squad (or whatever) but they Damn Sure better have the right man ,because once you off someone there is no taking it back. If an innocent man is snuffed isnt that Murder at it's Most Foul ? If they (The people comprising the justice system) murder someone shouldn't all involved lives be forfeit ? Because that would be a big conspiracy to commit Murder in the First Degree . Oh and Jeffery Epstein didn't kill himself .

    1. I used to be pro death penalty. But I can easily see the Democrats demanding the J6 defendants be executed for treason. If I don't want the weapon in the hands of the opposition, I don't want the government to have the weapon at all.

  6. Sounds like Gov. Lee is apposed to capital punishment and is making excuses to keep putting off the sentencing..... There's a surplus of fentanyl in the evidence lockers of most all the police forces to take care of the supply chain issues.. If that should ever run out there is still thousands of miles of rope available to throw over a branch.. The simple truth is there's a problem because they created one..

  8. I've heard that Pb injections even at standard velocities have a very good record for reliability and efficiency.

  9. Though I don't think capital punishment need be a part of the states tools for dealing with criminals, I see a shit load of silliness by the state. Need the perfect drug? Why? As someone mentioned there is a lot of fentanyl available, plain old morphine has been helping folks shuffle off this mortal coil for a long time. I don't believe we should torture folks but there are many drugs that will, with a minimum of discomfort cool you out to room temp.

  10. Vacx shots, plus booster and the newest version shot they want us to try (test) may wipe them out just think of all those other horrible things people with clot shots came down with. That would be following govt. orders.

  13. Nitrogen. No fuss, no IVs, no medicalization of the process, no pain, no shortages, dirt cheap, no horrible optics....just die, quietly. Requires, at most, a small room, reasonably airtight -a mask will do, really- and a tank of welding cover gas or just deoxygenated air (even easier, as that's a well understood technology and a one time purchase). Which is why it's not even on the books in most states.

And yeah, Lee's a wuss. Better than the tire merchant Jimmy-the-forever-dynasty was pushing, and damn sure better than the Pennsylvania carpetbagger, but no prize.

  14. I used to be a big death penalty person. I've since come to realize that it's really not for me to decide who gets to live or die, and I'm also trying in general to be more positive and to not wish death on other people (it's SO difficult sometimes.)

I also used to be a believer in the "it costs so much to keep people in prison" line which is total bullshit. If prisons didn't make money hand over fist there wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar private prison industrial complex.
