Scorpions - Oakland Coliseum Stadium 1985

I saw this band several times, all in small clubs, between 1979 and 1981 when I was stationed in Germany. They played a pretty damned good show every time, putting everything they had into each and every song.
My favorite song by far was The Zoo and they rocked the hell out of it.

  1. I met them at the Orange County, N.Y. Fairgrounds before a show in '91. Very friendly guys.

  2. I saw them and Del Leppard open for Ted Nugent in the early 80s. Nugent's Wango Tango tour if I remember right..

  3. Saw them in Greece right after the Wall came down in Berlin. The blew the roof off the giant indoor stadium. Probably the best hard rock show that I've ever seen. Not many groups in their genre (or any, for that matter) that sound as good in concert as they do in the studio.

  4. That's fucking awesome!

I got to see Deep Purple in Heidelberg, but it was the 90s and they must have been on the "we need more money" tour.

  5. The Zoo was a great song. Always like Big City Nights. Great band. Underrated in my opinion. They were a thumb in the eye of the east back in the 80's.

    1. The exact two songs I was going to comment on as well. Great minds think alike!

  6. Funny - I’ve been on a Scorpions kick lately. Always a fan but never saw them but like most of their late 70’s and early 80’s stuff. Later was like they had lost their edge or something. I’m sure they don’t care what I think. Lol
If you’ve never seen “The Wrestler “ and enjoyed Marisa Tomie strip to the Scorpions, so yourself a favor
Thanks for all you do. I really enjoy your page

  7. Been a long time Scorpions fan and early memory of me driving my friend's 79 Transam (4 on the floor/400) in 1982-ish past who would become my girlfriend's house trying to impress her with Breakout cassette playing to get her attention. Long story short - she wasn't home. That didn't deter me. Took me another 3 months to chase her into making her believe I was cool. The Zoo is my favorite Scorp song also.

  12. CRAZY...I'm actually listening to Blackout as I type this. I was born in 73 and grew up listening to this kind of music. I've been absolutely sick of it for decades now, with the exception of three Scorpions albums that came out from 1980-84.
