Massive hemorrhage remains a leading cause of death around the world. Although stop the bleed is generally thought of in the context of active shooter situations it is not a "tactical" skill and can be applied to a plethora of everyday and not so everyday scenarios. This video is a relatively quick rundown of how to save lives in traumatic situations.
If only one could tell one's body to just stop bleeding less people would die of blood loss
ReplyDeleteTo stop bleeding recite three times and say the person’s name:
DeleteAnd when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. — Ezekiel 16:6

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this Ken....An 'AFAK' should be in all our trucks, jet skis & ATVs...
ReplyDeleteI've got one in both vehicles, one in the kitchen, one in the shed, then I've got a full combat medic's pack that my nephew turned me onto when he was discharged stashed in the back bedroom.
DeletePreventing exsanguination isn't a complicated task. It does however require some knowledge and skill, some practice and proper equipment. A tremendous amount of the curriculum taught in schools these days is pointless political indoctrination. If we could replace that with useful skills...like effective first aid, the education system would then be worth keeping. At this point it needs to be totally scrapped.
ReplyDeleteFuck. Stop the bleeding, restore the airways, CPR if needed, have someone call 911 'cause I'm busy, dammit. Hand it over to the pros ASAP. Too many times, bro. Decline to be identified. Walk away knowing that you did what you could.

I think it all depends on who is bleeding and why...sometimes bleeding out is justified.
