Years ago, my friend's dad was a huge Waylon fan. Sort of. Apparently, he managed a ticket to see Waylon live, and when he got home, he was silent about it for days. Note, this was in a time when Waylon's addiction demons were just shy of killing him. Waylon was almost two hours getting on stage. Someone brought out a bar stool for him to sit on. Two dudes literally carried Waylon on to the stage and sat him on the bar stool. They plugged in his guitar and moved the mic closer to him. Waylon mumbled, fell off the stool and passed out completely.
Concert over.
"Well, I knew I seen the real Waylon Jennings that night."
Not long before my buddy's dad passed, he did manage to see him actually play and fulfilled his dream.
